Energy Crystal's also refine into ultima magic and it's actually the fastest way to max it out for all characters

What ability should you use and which gf has it?

That is also a great enemy to level up your remaining party members. It gives a great amount of exp. And with death junctioned, you don't need Quistis in your party...

I really did not enjoy ff8 when it was released. Most certainly because I was about 10 and didn't understand the junction system at all. Your guides have really helped me appreciate this game and I honestly think it's now my second favorite. Do ALL of your party have to be above level 40 or just one person?

those one hit kills lol. also is it possible to find them at low level and just spam lv up for the items?

I finished my level 100 grinds with elnoyles due to farming for them energy crystals and moonstones. They're certainly not bad when characters can inflict Death with 100 Deaths on ST-Atk-J.

by far my favorite farm spot i farm that dude and convert those into anything i can think of that they can change into and farm up 100 of each of the spells for all 6 characters and 100 of each of those items before i leave every time

I used it for maxing the stats too. Boring and monotonous but reliable and farely quick.

i've been doing this and strangely i ran into an Elnoyle in a random encounter. it had never happened to me before so i assume his encounter rate is extremely low? that was weird.

Sigh…. I forgot to get the ammo refine

what happened to the low level run or did you save edit to do this cos you passed it?

It was always intended as a temporary thing until I could access the multiple stat boosting abilities at once. I was gonna hold off until disk 4, but decided just to crack on now.

Every single guide I have found on the internet says that you can use Tonberry's lvl up ability on Elnoyles to get Energy Crystals from them. So could you go into more detail as to why specifically lvl up doesn't work on Elnoyle? Is it because its a fixed encounter? So if I go outside and encounter a random Elnoyle it will work?

I dont like this method. My preferred method is getting from Ruby Dragons in Island nearest to Hell. I like to devour them when farming HP. Is more of kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Gain HP and gain energy crystals both at the same time. Especially useful when playing a no level game

James Lim devour ruby isnt a good way to up hp, money trick is a bit faster with hp up.

How do you not? Just collecting weapon upgrade items etc, my Squall is over 60 and I'm on disc 3...besides, enemy levels scale with you. Only items change based on level.

Originally I thought you were going to be mugging than carding them cuz by carting them you get out an oil cards that you can use to turn into energy crystals later if you need more

You need 10 Elnoyle cards for 1 Energy Crystal. Farming this way is very time consuming, but can help if you’re playing a low level game.

Great trick for getting 8 cursed spikes guaranteed I just found. On the island closest to heaven, the save and reload RNG trick guarantees you a tri-face and he is super susceptible to death. In fact I've never had him survive a basic attack even once and I'm getting 8 spikes a pop!

this was available in the original game too, it's nothing new

Thank you very much, I started a new game on the remastered version. I haven't played final fantasy 8 in over 20 years, it's truthfully my favorite final fantasy game. I enjoy the story and characters way more than final fantasy 7, and I loved final fantasy 7. This helped me grind, as this Elynoil it's great for leveling up my GF's! I just got the Ragnarok, but I don't want to move the story along to the fourth dish because I have it completed the CC group nor have I gotten all the ultimate weapons yet. Also only my squall it's close to level 100, everyone else is below level 40 except for maybe Quistis who is just over level 60. Perhaps I can get it done with just her and Squall being in my party 🫡👑

I have a better method for getting Energy Crystals. Once the Garden is mobile, go get the Tonberry GF. Then, go to the forest next to Edea's Orphanage. Make sure you have Card, LVL Up, Lionheart, Quistis, and leave your third character dead. Encounter the rare spawn Ruby Dragon. Using the Remastered tools, start the battle by having Quistis cast Mighty Guard. Then have Squall spam LVL UP until it says the Ruby Dragon cannot gain any more levels. Then, have Squall use his limit break, and Quistis spam Card. Mighty Guard lets you survive against a level 100 Ruby Dragon, but only if the third character is dead. If they are alive, you will likely fail, as the Dragon can use Breath to deal 9999 to your whole party, or around 5000 if reduced with Mighty Guard. I did this with one level 8, and two level 10's, so my HP was around 2500. I learned the hard way lol. Keep spamming card, and you very likely will card the dragon before you kill him if you are a low enough level. You get 14 AP, and either 2 Fury Fragments, 2 Energy Crystals, 3 Fury Fragments, or 4 Fury Fragments. The downside like Fuzz already said is, the Energy Crystal is 19% drop rate. I recommend doing what I did. Farm until you can finish all ultimate weapons, then wait for after Bahamut. His Rare Item ability changes that 19% to 45%. No 4 Fury Fragments though, but that means its basically now 50/50 if you get 2 Fury Fragments, or 2 Energy Crystals. A win win. I'm not going as far as Fuzz does on stats, but I plan to go low level game until I get Cactuar GF, then four bonuses Quistis as I level her to 100, and repeat for all the characters.

I'll NEVER use lv up at all but even LV 100 party members on disc 1 and the Ruby dragons still almost NEVER drop them.

I Usually CARD The Elnoyle For Valuable Cards Rather Than Kill Him. They're Not That Hard To CARD, Really. That Fixed Elnoyle Encounter Is PERFECT For Energy Crystal-Farming, He ReSpawns Every Time You Exit And Return To The Screen. NORMALLY This Is Where The Game Would Want You To Get Lion Heart. If You Wanna Get "Energy Crystals" Off Elnoyles Without Leveling There's One Way To Do So, And It's The Same Way You Got The "Laser Cannon" Drops From Belhelmels. Simply Level ONE Character To Level 60 And Stick Him/Her Into Your Party. Go Initiate The FIXED ELNOYLE Encounter And VOILA! He's Above Level 40! The Only Difference Is Elnoyles Must Be Level 40+ Not 30+. And Elnoyles Can Also Be Encountered RANDOMLY Around Esthar City At This Point Too. And That RARE ITEM Ability Is BUGGED! The Game Literally Tries To TRICK You With It By Saying What Its Effect Is. Trick Is, If You Have That Ability On, You'll NEVER Get The RARER Items From Enemies! Remember That That's Very Important!

@@FuzzfingerGaming Don't Forget The Trick I Mentioned With Leveling Just ONE Character To A Really High Level, Should You Wanna Fight Higher-Level Enemies As Early As Disc 1 Or Even When They First Become Fightable Without Leveling! And Yeah They Try To LITERALLY TRICK You With That Ability It's Really No Good.
