The castle is my absolute favourite final fantasy track, for me no other compares. I love playing it on my phone when I am performing lab work. Thanks for a brilliant ff 8 walkthrough fuzz, it has been a blast watching it!

The original official strategy guide says that all GFs missed during the game can be acquired throughout Ultimecia's Castle from the various bosses, and lists which boss has which summon.

Awesome stream today and great content as always. I really appreciate how quickly you are able to push out these videos.

Your knowledge of the game is so extensive. I was just playing to enjoy, then I recognized that to play it well, I must learn how to junction n collect all sorts of rare items, magic, converting stuff. Thanks for sharing, the game itself requires a fair bit of knowledge!

Not much of a challenge lol makes everything incredibly easy sometimes boring

When I played this back in 98, I used the Brady Games book. Without it I would have never known about certain side quest or items. I've been watching your play thur, albeit not keeping up to well but when I play it this time, I'm going commando!

FF8 Brady Guide was incredible. Sooooo much information. The FF7 guide was sh!t though. Like every boss strategy after a certain point was like “use Knights of the Round to beat this boss”

Wondering if you bother levelling Eden to Max after draw her from Tiamat, just like you did to other GFs with Edea b4 Esther

Weird. I just got to ultimacia's castle on my first remaster playthrough and none of the bosses were there. I found Tiamat but I was so confused. I didn't know what to do and I played it so long ago!

Tiamat was Megumin before Megumin.

Something that solves this is getting hungry cookpot from angelo search during fight with turtapod in esthar... then you can learn devour without even getting eden

There aren't many fixed encounters in the deep sea research center provided that you do the steam puzzle correctly. You need to get the reserve steam on level 2 and then you can leave yourself with 10. The forced encounters happen when Zell forces the door open with the steam released.

Yes, at my first trial of this game, I never knew there's a correct puzzle solution for the steam. I let Zell to punch the bottom machine but there are fix encounters even when you junction the "enc-none" ability. After so many years I played this game again, I searched for the steam to be input correctly and the fix encounter are gone, giving me an access to Ultima Weapon quickly.

I just did a sloppy playthrough of FF8 and now I wanna do a low level playthrough for that pure stat maxing “fun” learning this about Eden def helps a ton with the curse spike farm fix encs I was Lowkey worried i was gonna have to farm on the isles closest to heaven or hell for them. And without a ribbon screeew malaboros haha

could you elaborate which fixed encounters we will be missing if we kill Ultima Weapon on Disc 3 ? and what do we get from them.. thanks

You MUST LEAVE "Ultimate Weapon" ALIVE To GET ANY Of Those "Fixed ENCs" In DSRC. Once You KILL HIM, They're ALL GONE. The MOST EFFICIENT Ones Are The "Tri-Faces", "Behemoths", "Ruby Dragons", And Possibly The "Iron Giants". The MAIN ONE Though Is The "Tri-Faces". You Can DRAW "Eden" Off "Tiamat" In "Ultimecia's Castle".

Tiamat is female goddess of evil dragons!

I unlocked limit on my first seal break. The only one which works for killing other bosses

Hold in cancel button while moving, I think.

you can also spend a few hrs running around the island closest to heaven/hell and devour all the enemies on there, and you can draw all the great spells hidden there too. It took me just under 5hrs of grinding to get all characters to 255 strength (unjuntioned) t-rex will increase Str, Behemoth will increase magic, ruby dragon will increase HP, adamantoise will increase VIT. By doing it your way, wouldnt you have to now backtrack all the way out? backtracking is never advisable IMO. And If you get Eden before disk 4, you can enter Ultimecia castle with everyone having max stats

I don't think you can leave ultimecia castle once you've entered I know I've tried and couldn't the beach where the chains are connecting it once you go there you can't back out which sucks

Woah under 5 hrs! Can u give any tips? I'm replaying it and it took me like 20 minutes to get just 2 str points and I felt like it'll take 4ever to reach 255 for ONE character!!

@@rosamontoya9154 You CAN LEAVE Ultimecia's Castle, There's "3 Portals" That LEAD TO The "World Map" In The Game(And A "4TH Hidden Portal" On The "Right-Hand Side"(Maybe There's More?)). Use The "Middle Portal" On The "Left Side" And It'll Put You On The "Centra" Continent And You Can Then Find The "Chocobo Forest" In That Area(I Think It's "Intermediate"?) And You'll Find The "Chocobo" Of That One Waiting For You. Take It, Then Ride It To The "Other" Centra Continent From THAT ONE(Passing "Centra Ruins") Until You Find "Edea's House"(Which Is LOCKED OFF(ALL TOWNS/Places Are NOW LOCKED OFF EXCEPT For The "Dungeons" Such As "Fire Cavern", "Tomb Of The Unknown King", "Tears' Point", "DSRC", ETC.). Then, From There, Go To Where The "Esthar-Kashkabald Desert" Is(Where You FIRST FOUND The "Ragnarok" In The Game) And You GET BACK Your "Ragnarok"(The "4TH" Portal Is Also There). Also, IF You COMPLETED The "CC Group Quest" BEFORE "End Of Disc 3" Then ALL Of The "NPCs" From "Balamb Garden" Will Be OnBoard The "Ragnarok" As Well. If you miss the armory key it falls into the basement I think.

If they were to remake Ultimecia's castle in a future version of the game, I would love the ability seal mechanic being custom-attuned for each boss. You don't unlock abilities as you go. Rather, the bosses determine which abilities are locked to keep each fight unique and tightly-tuned. Kind of like how the later Espers worked in FFXII.

in refernce to what you said about the castle music 3:50, nobuo utesimatsu really out did himself with the music here. the final boss music in FF8 was brilliant. He even did better than FF7s One Winged Angel and thats really saying something. Almost every final boss theme starts the same but not this time. It builds and when it takes off, it perfectly encompasses the atmosphere and emotion and energy of the moment.

Way later. If yo go rigth were the fountain is you will find a passaged closed with some metal pipes. If you press all the buttons at the same time in the organ; the path will open and you wil find a Rosseta stone( teach G.F. ability x 4).

so how you able to get eden card if you drawn eden from tiamat? and you wont able to earn star status for completing all cards before disk 4

I got 8 dark matters via tool refine just trying to get gfs to lvl 100 with Edea for low level characters. Dropped from Marlboro. Outside Esthar, encounter Marlboro, lvl up (eventually twice) Edea berserk, confuse, sleep, pain status defense, once lvl 100 for Edea (but not gfs yet), take berserk defense off and I'd get my 2 lvl ups in b4 bad breath 95% of the time, auto mode at that point. Yield 10 curse spikes. Save, then exit, load, Marlboro encounter, repeat. The curse spikes seemed to drop more than marlboro tentacles and royal crown or whatever it was combined. Was very fast accrual!

Wait. What!? I already had Eden yesterday on disc 3.

I'm disc 3 and CHOOSE to keep starting weapons except Selphie and Quistis for carding reasons. Squall no trigger can attack buel and geezard as examples and nit kill to card. Selphie I don't really use so meh, Quistis has micro missles which is perfect for carding. Demi is used for red bats early on to keep the seed rank happy while farming holy

What happens if u run across the bridge?

Hey, Fuzz, any reason why you decided not to get Eden from Ultima now that we're aware of the Monteith method? We can RNG-manipulate all of the fixed-encounter monsters on the world map once we have the Ragnarok, and with the Odin glitch, we have access to all of the Luck Ups we want whenever we want. (It's no faster getting 100 Curse Spikes than the 20min to get Luck-J Scrolls from Odin regardless of how we encounter the Tri-Faces). Just curious...

2:00 Where is the eden card though? Maybe I'm blind.

why take Eden with Tiamat and not with last weapon ??? I did not understand.

I get why you haven’t gotten Odin yet, but technically, shouldn’t a true 100% playthrough mean you get all GF’s including Gilgamesh? Love the vids, keep em comin :)

nah, I was able to get all the items from angelo search and still get Gilgamesh, just do the turtapod farming trick after lunar base and get Odin on disc 3 before the Seifer fight.

Final Fantasy VIII has the best designs when it comes to weapons. Same with Final Fantasy X.

You Don't Necessarily HAVE To Draw Eden From Ultima Weapon, You CAN DRAW "Eden" From Tiamat Which He Did. I Did As Well In Mine.

Since you got the Lionheart, should instead unlock limit break first, then use it to fight Tri-Point and then unlock draw. Otherwise you'd be hacking away at Tiamat with regular attacks only, not impossible with sufficient strength, but a slow process nonetheless Still, there's really no reason to get Eden here, especially if you went through the trouble of getting bahamut at the deep sea research center. There's almost no opportunity to use Eden itself at this point, as ultimecia instantly destroys any GF summoned. Plus, you'll have to go look for the ragnarok and go back to cactuar island to rapidly learn Eden's abilities, something that should have been done before ending disc 3

I get the point of harvesting dark matter bruh, Rather I consider this a perfect map condition In the ps version there is a thing called gameshark... On the pc side the lighter one chocoworld is more ratger easier way to get stat ups There is also infinite money glicht at the same time with the call shop plus refing some rare sheets you get stat ups.... The only notable thing on that part of tge map is the curse spike, aka dark matter farming... I literally played this hardcore and made a perfect gameplay... Every nook and cranny of this game I will never forget, lol

Why didn't you go after ultima weapon after doing the fixed encounters you could have learned more or all of edens skills and still fought tiamat.

The reason is you cant get Luck Up without Eden's GF Abl RF so you have to do your grinding with Eden.

@@xAshe10x actually that's not true. With the Odin glitch, you can mug a Luck-J Scroll from him every 20 minutes, which is about as fast as collecting the 100 Curse Spikes from Tri-Faces. Plus, on top of the Odin glitch, there's also the Monteith method for enemy spawn RNG manipulation, which guarantees us encounters with all Devour enemies for stat boosts on the world map. (Ruby Dragon, T-Rexaur, Adamantoise, Behemoth, and Malboro). So personally, I prefer to get Eden from Ultima Weapon before I start power-leveling so that Eden can level up with everyone else.

@@xAshe10x Yeah! Fuzz recently did a video on it! You can't speed up the timer at all, so it is a guaranteed 20min endeavor, but if you start a final Renzokuken on Odin that would normally kill him, but the timer runs out after the animation sequence stats, but before the first hit connects to "kill" him, the game defaults to kicking you out of the Centre Ruins after the fight as if you never made it to him within the time limit. So you can just reenter and do it again, getting the same spoils and all each time! XD

ultimately FF8 is so easy that its pointless to discuss about this. its fun to go crazy and become op on disc 1 - its a fun run to do for every fan. but thats that. there simply is no challenge that requires even the slightest amount of stat optimisation

@@rosamontoya9154 not really. whenever you see people having difficulties with them its because they dont fully understand the crafting and junctioning system. Even if you dont play cards or collect items you get endgame magic for free on the two islands. It takes almost no effort to max out your most important stats. Your level doesnt matter at all. In fact the less you level up the easier the game is. The limit break attacks from Xell, squall and irvine are so incredibly OP and easy to get you can oneshot all normal bosses and even finish omega/ultima weapon in no time at all. FF8 gives you anything you need for free or very little effort. And there is little strategy required once you get good junctioning magic. Haste+Aura+Limit break is a mono strategy that always works. Compared to the endgame challenges of other final fantasy games FF8 is extremely easy and takes little time to prepare

@@TheGravitune eh, id strongly disagree. I vastly prefer it over FF7 and FF9 (both of which are great games in their own right, dont get me wrong). Its just that Final Fantasy games in general and FF8 in particular arent what you would call difficult. FF8 was specifically made to never be grindy. The whole junctionin system and the way monsters progress with your level haave one purpose: to make it so there never is even a minute you need to grind. You can of course do it. But it is never necessary - not even for Ultima/Omega weapon. You can get everything you need to beat them without having to fight monsters and they actually get easier the lower level you are.

TIL you can draw eden from tiamat.

@@rosamontoya9154 You can fight him at the Deep Sea Research Center on either Disc 3 or Disc 4. That gets you Bahamut as a GF as well as his card.

They need to bring back lightning and serah and all the other characters of ff13

@@Garviel-Loken I have a copy of the squaresoft FF8 guide, it does refer to Tiamat as a he, however this guide isn't the ultimate guide, more of a supplement guide........ Tiamat to me is the queen of dragons, and Bahamut is the King.

@@Mangomesh I have the guide. Should have looked in it. Bahumut and tiamat are actually gods of dragons as opposed to king and queen. In Arabic mythology bahumut is a giant fish and tiamat in from babalonian mythology and is either a serpent or a dragon, she was split in half to after being killed by marduk. But it does appear in ff8 that tiamat has become male.

By this way you don't have eden card

Why not just press R3 and have unlimited limit breaks

The "GFs" That "Come With" The "Stat Bonus" Abilities Are: Ifrit(STR Bonus), Siren(MAG Bonus), Brothers(HP Bonus), Carbuncle(VIT Bonus), Leviathan(SPR Bonus), And Cactuar(Comes With ALL Them). AT MAXIMUM, You Would WANT MOST Your Characters AT LEVEL 10(With The EXCEPTION Being "Rinoa" And "Irvine", Who Both Join At Levels "11" And "13", Respectively). You Can Also Do The "Seifer" Trick In The Dollet SeeD Exam And LEVEL UP Your "Quezacotl", "Shiva", And "Ifrit" GFs And LEVEL ONLY Seifer "Without" Leveling Squall And Zell(Same Thing Can Be Done With "Edea" WAY LATER ON In The Game With OTHER GFs). @@RedMarioXIIINanaki36 The only reason to use STR or MAG Bonus is for completionists purpose. There's no real need to get all stats to 255, and even then, you can do that easily junctioning the right way. Hell, with STR+60% you can get to 255 with Blizzard.
