Love this video. What a great voice on this artist. All the points made here about the room and treatment are 100 percent on-point. On top of that, having had presets done by Lenny B, I can say it not only raises the bar, it instills confidence that is completely audible. To have your own inimitable sound shine through is beautiful. It also, for me, lets me focus on the read, and not the audio. This video is gold.

Sembra fantastico. Giancarlo has a great voice, a great room, and a great mic. You made him sound more balanced and masculine (if that was even possible). You brought out all the significant parts of his voice. You definitely have the EQ Superpower. Room noise and reflections are crucial to getting a great sound. I love the broadcast sound. After hearing his processed vocal, I now have to go for a drive in my Ferrari….Buona fortuna Giancarlo!

@@HeyLennyB It has its own 80Hz and 160 Hz Low-cut filters, which is a nice touch. Even w/out using those, its sound can be a bit "brisk", a bit "crisp/bright", but it's fab for clarity. Also comes with a fab shock mount and minimalist pop-screen (which is mainly to stop saliva from getting into/past the mesh). The molded case it comes with is almost indestructible, lol!

Great vid as always Lenny :) I'm going to be in touch soon as I've just made a new vocal booth in my studio but I'm still getting some muddiness even though it is made the same way I did originally so I'm guessing the room size difference is really coming through as mentioned, or boxy ness that I've tried removing - I also switched over using the F6 RTA EQ and Scheps from Waves because of your vids.

Hi Terry, I seem to have a tough time with that pronunciation. Let me know if you have more questions. Beware, the thicker the panel, the better it is at absorbing low frequencies. I suggest you take my Acoustic Treatment for Voice-Over course before purchasing any treatment. I promise It WILL save you time, money, and frustration! Thanks!!!

Lenny I really enjoy your channel. I know you specialize in voiceover and have a video EQing and processing the MKH416 (of course, it’s a popular choice in the voiceover world) but have you ever had experience working with the MKH50 more so for dialogue recording and capture? Just curious. I love the mic. Definitely have learned over time (and still learning) that treating your environment is king for better audio. Thanks!

Hey @danielpatrick290, yes I've had a few MKH50s come through. I love the mic for dialogue. It's a good choice for a not entirely optimized recording space. Knowing where to point the mic "away from" is key. Do you have one?

Hi Lenny! I have a question about EQ. So, in adobe audition, there is an EQ preset called Vocals...what is your opinion of this preset and should we use it to EQ our voices?

Any EQ presets are kind of like generic, ill-fitting clothes. They may do the job and protect you from the elements. However, nothing looks as good as a well-tailored suit, dress, etc. EQ presets are a good starting point, but you can improve the sound by fine-tuning the EQ to your recording space, your voice, and your style.

Lenny, I'm contemplating moving from Audition to Logic Pro X to get rid of a monthly payment. I've used Audition for years. Can I ask why you seem to prefer Logic Pro?

I've always been an Apple fan. I like the way all of the apps are intuitive. Logic is also the audio version of Final Cut Pro, which is their video editing software. I use Final Cut for all of my videos. The apps are laid out the same way that I think. I hope that makes sense. There will be a learning curve, but that holds true with all apps.

Hi @ellinokosfm. I'm not familiar with Stereo Tools. I understand it's a streaming processor. You could use it with an external preamp, Cloudlifter, and an RE20. However, I believe you still need a sound card or audio interface. Thanks for watching!
