There will never be another Satchmo. But what really is important here is to note that Louis Armstrong touched so many people all across the globe that here we have a guy in Ukraine who is not only singing one of his songs, but doing so in a voice very similar to Louis Armstrong himself. Now THAT really says something about the impression that Satchmo left behind.

Nobody failed to realized that, you completely missed the point and no Louis wouldn’t be smiling down at some random guy on a KZread channel that doesn’t have one album of his used his name for a clickbait title. Countless people try to sing like these iconic singers, it’s like saying Chris Farley or someone would be “smiling down” at someone for doing an impression of him. It’s just bizarre, he’d probably be looking for people trying to do new things and push jazz forward like he did, not just literally copy exactly what he did that isn’t the type of inspiration most artists want people to get out of their music. Like yeah it’s cool but it’s not what someone who really took in and loved his music would do, they’d be inspired to do the same thing, and by same thing I mean expressing his soul through his instrument and voice. Anyone can learn how to sing in the way Louis did that isn’t what makes him special, it’s HOW he used it and the fact he came up with it and put it in music before anyone else. Its incomparable to take someone who didn’t have to write one thing and pretend they’re like a genius. And saying “they’re both good in their own ways” really shows you fail to realize how amazing Louis armstrong was, like that’s a ridiculous understatement he made countless classic albums, this dude is an IMPRESSIONIST

“This song is a treasure. As a child going through so much physical and emotional abuse, this song gave me hope, and a will to live. What a Wonderful World” was written by the team of jazz producer Bob Thiele (under the pseudonym “George Douglas”) and Songwriter Hall of Fame inductee George David Weiss. The original plan in 1967 was for the gravel-voiced, quirky jazz legend Armstrong to release the song as a piece that might quell some of the racial and political unrest in America, given its optimism and celebration of life. But, because of lack of promotion, the record didn’t go anywhere in the U.S., though other countries embraced it. It wasn't until Robin Williams used it in "Good Morning Vietnam, that The Us embraced the song. Sadly Louis Armstrong had passed.

It's not about singing it better. It's not a competition. It's singing this song in your own way. To make people feel every word of the lyrics. I don't think the person who uploaded that thought bad or was wrong to write that. This version just touched them in a different way and apparently more than the original. That's what I love with this song, there are so many ways to sing it and to feel it even without changing the melody. Just with a glare, a smile, a whole different person ; a whole different perspective... Such a beautiful song :')

Anyone who has listened to Louis Armstrong's original version created in the Great Depression when life became even more difficult for black people and hears the deep and subtle range of emotions from joy to anger in a beautiful song that he made his own will hear what a joke, a pastiche this is. To succeed when he did is a miracle. The belief and the level of evolution in the soul for it to happen puts this sheister not just into the shade but no where at all. I am not surprised that it appears on the trashy X Factor. We have lost the ability to distinguish between real emotions and faked emotions. We don't know any longer what love is for we have sucked the life out of the world for ourselves, lived a pampered unreal life and unless it bloody changes very, very soon we are all in for the biggest wake up call in history!!
