Amazing Vertical Cut Technique Taking Advantage of Natural wood | has Developed over 450 years
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Hello Everyone,
When I was a kid, my dad has told me about the reduction of manpower of traditional trades due to the industrialization and modernization of Japanese society, traditional products started to become out-dated and forgotten.
#woodworking #cuttingtechnique #naturalwood
However, they’re still young people who spend all of their careers carrying on the tradition. We'd like to honor them as much as we can. So I decided to create a series of video shows about them and their work from the footage available from my friends and myself.
I have edited the script, rewrote the content, new voices were recorded, new effects work, new music, new footage added and a new creation is created as follows: "Amazing Vertical Cut Technique Taking Advantage of Natural wood | has Developed over 450 years"
This time our main character is a Yamanaka Lacquerware Craftsman: Tanaka Eiko (弟子田中 瑛子さん) from Aichi Prefecture. She was born in 1983
Her Teacher: Nakajima Torao (中嶋 虎男さん)
Born in Anjo City, Aichi Prefecture, Tanaka has been interested in ceramics and lacquerware since high school and majored in lacquer art at university. After graduating, she studied for two years at the Ishikawa Prefectural Yamanaka Lacquerware Industry Technology Center and the Grounding Sawmono Potter's Wheel Technical Training Institute. After that, she volunteered to become an apprentice to Yamanaka Lacquerware Kijishi's Mr. Torao Nakashima, who was a lecturer at the training center and became an apprentice at the age of 24. After five years of training, she became independent as Yamanaka Lacquerware Kijishi and is working hard every day to acquire more advanced skills. In 2012, she held an exhibition of works in New York.
Today, this video will probably be more appealing because of the Echizen Lacquerware Produced by Groups of Lacquering Masters Called Nushiya with a History of 1500 Years.

Tanika Eiko beauty also shows through her work.
Making your own tool is something every good machinist, woodworker, maker, etc. does throughout their career.
The world could use more women like her. What a treat to watch her work.

such beauty and grace in one human being is sadly becoming rare these days
Woodworker, artist and blacksmith skills are very rare for women. She's really an artisan. Love her work. 👍🏻🇦🇺😁
The spalted piece at the end is my favorite!
A beautiful woman with a beautiful craft. I would love to visit Japan. I think their houses are stunning. What a place to live. Thanks for showing.

I’ve always admire Japanese workmanship and craft. Their precision and artistry is inspiring. I was surprised to see the lathe operation performed without safety glasses or mask.
Amazing quality and skills. Japanese people are the most perfectionists people on planet earth. I ❤ Japan.

This gorgeous woman is definitely not a snowflake. No safety gear like pansies and lets that beautiful hair down! I'm in love!
Always enjoyed wood working but just never could afford it.
When you see a young lady produce such wonderful pieces of work it makes you wonder why we seem to need no end of tools and yet the majority of us do not reach the same standard. I wish there had been an English commentary to this video because the processes were interesting.

it's a matter of culture... our occidental standards are quite low for everything, as long as a tool can get the job done its a good tool... but over there they improve to the maximum the design, and it's something they have been improving for decades and decades....
Beautiful work ,beautiful lady stunning craftsmanship

Jaw dropping skills!
Amazing dedication to the craft. You should be very proud of the skills you've acquired and the beautiful results coming from all the time and hard work you've invested into the product and towards it's final outcome. Absolutely amazing results. The Yamanaka family and their ancestors should be proud of how you are carrying on their tradition. Well done young lady, Well Done.
Felicitaciones!!!!! Realmente un excelente trabajo que denota un gran dominio de diferentes áreas del conocimiento, así también como una admirable dedicación al trabajo . Nuevamente, felicitaciones. Un gran saludo desde Uruguay.

I'm supposed to be admiring the amazing woodworking. But, dang, she's gorgeous.
優秀なマスター、美しい仕事、美しい女の子!
I love the processing of her lathe tools that obviously work so well. I'm interested in seeing how the lathe functions and being left handed with a one-direction counter-clockwise lathe I'm jealous of the right / clockwise rotation of her lathe. The finish is spectacular! Hand-crafted is the way to go.

I suppose she has a light enough touch that she never snags the wood, but I feel some safety gear might be in order. It makes me wonder if they asked her to work without a face shield so the viewers could appreciate how pretty she is. She works with the tool rest at quite a distance, which is also dangerous. I like how she gets such a fine finish with a scraper that she doesn't sand at all!
felicitaciones.
Thinking I'd just check out the video for a few moments to what this "amazing vertical cut technique" must be...and of course, couldn't take my eyes off of the presentation. Great job. I enjoyed every minute.

Same. My guess is that the products had "vertical cut technique" in their name from a time when this method was unusual, it really doesn't translate well, but no regrets, the video was amazing!

I have not changed my mind , find this video to be excellent and the wood turning woman is s focused and such a artisan at such the perfect age. I ask God for a wife such as her if not the beautiful woman turning herself. To watch a woman of such caliber learning and loving such a craft is sublime . The amount of tradition put into these crafts is unmatched as far as I know .

Quite amazing, and I love that she made her own tools to achieve a specific purpose. I also love that less is more when the natural figuring is left exposed, and how the lacquer is made to look worn and ancient in some cases... Just wonderful!
Oh man, I love the Japanese crafting and architectural, and blockwood printing, metal smith, and more, they are so in its most finesse. Beautiful!!!! I wish I could go there and learn a lot from them.... and I heard they care for their rivers forest, and environment in general. So good.

Nah, spalting really disagrees with certain woods or styles. Like a clean modern style imo looks messy with spalting. Granted I induce spalting in a lot of my logs, a lot of ash.

@CypyCup at min 6:14 you can see how she is really close to the wood turning not wearing any protection, plus her long hair is not secured in a ponytail or using a nethair, long sleeves is a no no too when you work with lathes or any spinning tool, i use to work as a machinist and she is not following a lot of safety basic rules, i seen very experienced workers 20+ years having awful accidents losing fingers and stuff like that because they not follow this basic safety rules.
