I know it's hard to take on board, but I think I speak for most when I say I am so grateful for everything you show us, good and bad. I would never judge you for anything you show us, it's brilliant to get a view into a commercial room like this!

Bro. Don't lose heart, your video's are always really ace! I can only imagine if you film setting up a new fish room they would be super ace. Many of us are learning with you, so don't feel ashamed to show the downs as well as the ups. In Dutch we say "gedeelde smart is halve smart" something like shared misery is half the misery.

Crazy to see how far you've come from when I first started watching the channel! Don't worry about it, no aquarium is ever 100% and that's just apart of the hobby. We all make mistakes, forget things or just don't keep up. You're doing incredible and your videos are always great to watch

Hi Nick Thank you for being so open about your fish room. The hobby really needs more people like you. There should be no secrets for successfully keeping and breeding fish. Too many new hobbyists become quickly overwhelmed and discouraged with things, that always do go wrong for us all in the beginning. Having knowledgeable and approachable persons like yourself will help those hobbyists solve these initial failures and then possibly prevent the many thousands of new fish keepers that come and then just quit within a couple of weeks. As they often find it difficult to find the answers, or they are not brave enough to ask. Fearing that they will just be laughed at or criticized for their lack of understanding. At the end of the day only those that consistently put in the time and effort required, will be successful in breeding fish for profit. And most like to make money, though not nearly as many are prepared like yourself, to endure the time and efforts required to become a successful fish breeder. Nick could you tell me please the other dimensions of your 4ft tanks are they 45cm or 60cm wide and high? Cheers Carl

I’m sure you will in your next fush room. The rainbows look good, you should start doing more of them and some cool tetra species. Woof!

I'm reluctant to go to a chain store for fear of infecting my pond with parasites or other organisms. I'm in the U.S., but curious what YOU do to get new blood.

how do you deal with the hydra? I'm not sure i dealt with the same species you have, mine seemed a bit bigger when i had them. I was raising guppies in a colony tank, and one by one, i noticed them paralyzing the fish that got to close, and i had so many fry deaths in that tank. Do the ones in your tank not bother smaller fish?

Ok so my bristlenoses laid their first batch of eggs today. I ended up moving the male and the cave to a different smaller tank on his own because the other 3 males were all trying to get into his cave for an hour and I think it was stressing him out. When one of the males actually got fully into the tank I took the bad and his cave put and now he’s fanning them again in the other tank. There are 6 other caves. Any idea why all the males wanted to get into his cave?

Hello Nick. I have a question. I had a couple of GBR spawning every ten days in my community aquarium. And everytime the snails ate the eggs. So, I took them alone to a ten gallon tank. But they never spawned there, and the male started to be agressive with the female. I took them back to the main aquarium and the male still chasing the female all the time. What could I do to stop that behavior?

That's a great idea. Come to think of it, doesn't Dean use that set up? I'm pretty sure that Nick said he copied Dean's setup and I know some other KZreadr, I think it was Simply Betta, said that Dean uses Matten filters. If that's the case I'm guessing that's why he likes that setup. I'm surprised Nick isn't already doing that.

Totally understandable that some tanks don’t look great or some things aren’t producing. I breed on a smaller scale than this but I think people think “this guy is super successful and must have everything perfectly under control” and a lot of people don’t understand that breeding tanks are for breeding, not to look good. “Ugly” tanks are usually what fish like to breed in anyways. Moss and messy plants give great cover and mulm is great to have in grow outs so the babies have a constant food supply if they look for it or aren’t picky. Also, not everything is going to be producing all at once, lots of fish like to take breaks to regain strength after breeding. Sometimes you’ll see fish doing the opposite of that and non stop producing like one of my plecos and people will ask how you made them do that but that’s the thing, there is no secret to making a fish do exactly what you want cause they don’t care what you want, they’re fish.
