When I was inside it was not only the music that made the whole experience for me but the community. At regular clubs it can be hard to go off on your own and try to make friends, but here I met so many cool people, got drinks at the different bars, and made friends with a stranger and talked for over an hour who Im still in contact to this day. Also really brought together me and my friends who were there with me.

The river is the border, Berghain is situated entirely in f'hain. Did you know that the consolidated borough (friedrichshain-kreuzberg) name order was decided by a coin toss? Berghain gives out little boxes of matches sometimes that say KREUZFRIEDRICHS which I think is funny. :D

#3 Playing live means playing live electronic instruments like synthesizers or beat computers. The claim that DJs would not be playing their sets is insulting to the artists that play there.

Not playing live means counting your bpm’s and mixing a live set. You know how many superstar dj’s these days don’t do that. A real dj like Carl cox does it and does it on vinyl with 4 decks digital age killed real dj’ing

I know it's not the same scene and he'd not play Berghain but Venetian Snares would probably play live all the damn weekend. He usually puts more effort when it's not some stupid music festival but some good venue and I've seen him be super active even after ungodly amount of Beer drank while playing (so much that the problem isn't alcohol, just liquid)

Pro tip: Every great sound setup has a usually small sweet spot where the sound is the best. Berghain and Panorama Bar have the best sweet spot I've ever experienced. Go and try to find it. The reward is amazing.

AND they use Funktion One (!!) last I checked -- a company that only started producing linear systems within the past 10 years.. Not looking to educate a professional, but a significant percentage of large sound systems (150-300 kW) will have a line array component, which by design disperses sound evenly over a massive area. In fact the best listening experience I've had at high volume was a TURBOSOUND rig, configured with line arrays! Could be heard with the same clarity from 1.5km away as up close, and absolutely no ringing in the days after. Pure, dynamic and high definition. Especially in the midrange, where F1 is particularly lacking.

I have heard that Berghein switched from F1 to ?? not sure Void?? For sure Boom festival in Portugal which used to be the most influencial F1 showcase beside Berghein swicthet to the liune arrays of DB audio

After you visit the toilet in Berghain your pupils dilute and your jaw might start clenching but no worries, you just feel great anyway and the music makes you so energetic to dance for hours.

I don't know a lot about technical stuff, but when the djs play live they like create the song by adding sounds live, when they don't play live it doesn't mean they just press play and pretend as if they were doing something but they actually mix and everything. Sometimes it's even harder to mix than playing live tho.

Yeah, LIVE means they play the music live and not just mix together different producers' ready-made tracks. Usually the LIVE setup is also different from the usual dj setup and can consist of e.g. drum machines, effect pedals, laptops with midi controllers, whereas dj setup usually consists of a dj mixer, turntables and cdjs.

Got number 3 totally wrong....a Live set is when an act produces on the spot and a DJ set is when an act mixes records together etc...Berghain is often the pinnacle of a Techno artists career they wouldn't ruin that chance by 'pretending' to play.....there are many people who go to Berghain to warch the artist mix and it would be obvious if the DJ was pretending lol

Richie Hawtin was not rejected at the door, he was thrown out of the club because he was in the DJ booth when he wasnt suppose to play! The strict Berghain policy does't allow no one except the dj who is playing to be in the dj booth.

Norbert Thormann & Michael Teufele Spelling might not be right but I’m sure they were gay cruisers in the 80’s/90’s and hosted underground “Snax” party’s (all male sex party’s with alternative music) Been like 4/5 times, seen it all, yeah it’s cool but I’m more into the creative direction behind it all, and of course the music, cool place to literally forget everything and go crazy. Hi, I like your videos. Especially the funny ones. I was a regular in many clubs at the very beginning. Today I’m back in Berlin, loved techno all my life, and I am rejected at Berghain. Why? Just because I’m older? Discrimination. Absolute shame. All these people complain that Berlin is not the same. Of course, I was there and I know how it was. But acting like this, with severe and unjustified discrimination will not help. I think Berlin is dead. Or dying. One day Berlin will be full of clubs with rich owners and fake alternative style. An Ibiza with a different color. It’s already fucked. I can see it.
