ABOUT BECKET:
Becket Cook was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He attended Jesuit College Preparatory
School of Dallas. After graduating from college, Becket moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of writing and acting, finding success in both. He eventually went on to become a production designer working with the top photographers and directors in the world on fashion shoots for magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and for ad campaigns such as Gap, L'Oréal Paris, and Nike.
Finding a new sense of freedom in L.A., Becket also fully engaged in his new life as a gay man. He had a series of many relationships with men throughout the next fifteen years.
In September of 2009, Becket met a stranger at a coffee shop in Silver Lake who invited him to his church in Hollywood called Reality L.A. Becket reluctantly agreed to attend the service. After hearing the sermon that Sunday, Becket was utterly transformed by the gospel and gave his life to Christ. He also knew on that day when God revealed Himself to him that homosexuality was a sin and that he could no longer live that life. Becket was more than happy to count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus his Lord.
Becket spends much of his time in ministry speaking at churches, universities, and conferences helping believers (and non-believers) understand this issue biblically, theologically, culturally, and personally. Balancing grace and truth when teaching on this subject is of primary importance. His goal is to challenge the current cultural narrative about sexuality in general and homosexuality in particular by demonstrating through his personal testimony and biblical truths that, yes, homosexuality is still a sin, and that following Christ is infinitely more satisfying and joyous.
He has lived all over the world in major cities such as Rome, Vienna, and Tokyo.
Becket graduated from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University in 2017 with a Master of Arts in Theology.
Becket’s book, A Change of Affection: A Gay Man’s Incredible Story of Redemption, with a
foreword by Francis Chan, published by Thomas Nelson, released July 30, 2019.

Becket, Jesus did not judge you as a sinner rebelling, if you did not know truth's. You are giving a wrong message to people. Christians in America Becket, are very lost from Jesus' truth's, love and mercy. This Preacher needs to focus on Jesus' church, instead of worldly people, they are causing great harm.

Prison to Praise and Power in Praise by Merlin Caruthers are small books, a bit dated now in some unimportant ways, and not great literary works in style, but they are a powerful testimony of praising God in ALL circumstances (in faith) for what we don’t yet see. Ive been praying over 30 years for my daughter to come to faith…I’m beginning to see breakthrough now. In that case, "The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill" is a podcast you should probably listen to, before continuing whole-heartedly with Driscoll. Driscoll's ability to preach compellingly was never the issue, and the early days of Mars Hill seem to have been mostly positive. The problem, which Christianity Today documented extensively with recorded segments and quotations from both Driscoll and multiple people who co-ran Mars Hill, was that over time, he became controlling and unaccountable. Some of his marriage seminar teaching, in particular, was vulgar and borderline abusive. Based on the available evidence, his removal wasn't a "taking out" by the devil, it was the result of the church board -- after moving very slowly and with much reluctance -- concluding that his behavior no longer conformed to the biblical qualifications of an elder.

He speaks the God’s truth and he is not afraid of it. We need more preachers like him. And if anybody is offended by his sermons, before you criticize him, maybe you should look into your heart and ask yourself, why is truth offending me? Becket, I am surprised at this. 😣 While Driscoll is gifted as a communicator, the bad fruit of his behavior (both in the past and currently) is well documented. I would suggest looking into reporting done by Christian journalist Julie Roys, who has been keeping tabs on Driscoll and continuing to expose him. I pray he truly repents one day -- and, I'll add, truly becomes a Christian, because I'm not convinced he is. Only God can know that for sure because He knows all of our hearts. But we can still call it like we see it based on observations and documented behavior. There are other excellent preachers out there whose integrity holds up, and they are the ones who deserve to be platformed, not that guy. 🙄 (Props to everyone in the comments reminding us all to pray for the salvation/restoration of those we criticize. That's very important, and I know I don't do it nearly as much as I should.)

He was asked to leave Mars Hill Church for emotionally and spiritually abusing staff and congregants. There is much more to the picture but that is the broad generalization of what happened. The sad part is that he has not publicly repented of this and continues to pastor a congregation in AZ

@@4elizabeth I'm curious what you heard him say that you interpreted as repentance? Was this recent or are you referring to the day he gave his final talk to Mars Hill? From all the reports of people still dealing with his spiritual abuse and bullying, he left a wake of broken people - most of whom never heard from him again. I understand that he grossly misrepresented the nature of his resignation and then jumped right back into ministry with the same level of (non)accountability he had for most of his time and Mars Hill. Honestly, based on the detailed reports, he isn't qualified to be an elder and it would take many years of humble submission to a local church to convince the people he steamrolled that he was truly repentant.

One does not have to “publicly repent” in order to have repented! You might say he does, but the Bible teaches us to go to the person or persons we have sinned against and ask them to forgive us. That’s personal! Just because this world now expects everything to be broadcast doesn’t mean we should! God alone knows Mark’s heart and actions. Make sure you’re in right standing with God. Have you gone and sought forgiveness for all of your sins against every individual whom you e hurt? Have you confessed your sins to God and been truly sorry? Or, are you just taking Mark’s and everyone else’s inventory? Love does not keep an account. Love bears all, endures all, and always hopes. Love never fails. Are you praying earnestly for Mark to be restored since you believe he isn’t?

@@melissaculpepper7663 He hasn't repented. That's the whole point. Repentance manifests in ACTIONS. Otherwise it's simply lip service. He was disqualified from leadership by elders at Mars Hill and rather than take responsibility or respect their decision, he got enraged and left the state to start another church in AZ. Who does that?? Who treats disqualification with disdain? If he repented, he would now be doing other kind of work, not doing the same thing he was DISQUALIFIED from doing! And who makes grown men "terrified" of them?? You should listen to the Julie Roys interview of one of the elders. He looks and sounds traumatized. By the way, David is not the standard. Jesus is. A Christian is under the *NEW COVENANT* and the only person we are told to imitate in the New Testament is JESUS. [It's SUCH a red flag 🚩 to me when people scour the Old Testament for someone to talk negatively about. People sound like the devil himself when they do that: "SEE! He sinned!" Part of discernment is knowing when we shouldn't platform an individual. It takes so little time to research this stuff. Driscoll is not saying anything that any other biblically faithful pastor has said AND those probably lesser known pastors don't have a past fraught with bullying behavior, questionable/creepy sexual advice to couples, a god complex, and more. Driscoll started another church just two years after leaving Mars Hill without doing any reconciliation work. He just "felt called" to leave Mars Hill and start something new. Convenient. It's hard to say if this man is or was ever repentant, but people leaving his current church have complained that Driscoll is doing the SAME things there.

We went a couple times to his church when he was in Seattle. He grew very fast and the controversy had to do with the publisher of his book and that they purchased books so that he could go up on the New York bestseller list or something like that. He was accused of being involved in that deception. He had a heart for men and to teach men how to be men but in that endeavor he would cuss and soon became the cussing pastor. He is a picture of how God (when we belong to Him) refines us and shows us mercy and he then gave him a another shot. I really do believe that God has humbled Mark. And that Mark has his head and heart in the right place. Love him!!

When you mix all those rainbow colors in LIGHT, e.g. THE Light of the world, (Jesus), you get WHITE light. White = purity, goodness, righteousness- a gift of God. The way that leads to life, not destruction. I love the Way of Jesus, having been set free & set on the better path, as a young woman. This talk is like our baptismal vows, "Do you reject Satan, & all his EMPTY promises?" His way seems like a 'promise,' a 'rainbow,' until you discover the snares/ death/ destruction it brings you. My #1 reason for following Jesus is that He came to me & showed He is real, at a time when my life was being deflected from a worldly path (job loss). He literally proved to me He is real & "you would do well to follow, as to a lamp shining in a dark place," 2 Peter 1: 16-19, (on the day I prayed I feared Jesus could be a myth! The ONLY passage in the WhOLE Bible that directly assures Jesus is not). I now consistently live in peace, joy, hope, love of God, (except for moments of normal life emotion to life pains). I love the Way of God, which calls us to set our hearts on higher things. I feel joy every time I refuse being lured any other direction, & draw near to God. It's not always the 'e-z' choice, but it is the life/ eventual blessings choice. Praise Jesus. Blessings everyone. Peace. Love wins.
