In this video, I have some news to share with my faithful viewers. I recently found this old farmhouse table. I first attempted to remove the 3 layers of paint. My plan was to sand this table and refinish it. I soon realized it was necessary to completely disassemble this entire piece, and slowly rebuild it. I hope you enjoy watching the process. As always, thank you for your support. Barry

The thing I love about this little table, is that it comes from a time when nothing was wasted. It was cobbled together with different woods to serve someone’s purpose. I bet it was well used and hard wearing. Probably well loved too and appreciated. We have become such a wasteful society that it’s shameful what we throw away. I love that you have sympathetically restored this little treasure to live again, and I bet the original creator will be delighted with the result. xx

My husband will dig things out of the dumpsters in our community often, but he rarely keeps them. He takes them to one of the local thrift stores. It's awful how much furniture and functional bicycles get thrown away.

Watching the Temu video, and seeing the treasure trove of new tools that you’ve donated, is surely making them very happy to see you. I watched another video with the same drawer pulls on a dresser. When you said your were restoring this piece I didn't realise you were going to go to such extent. You've done an amazing restoration of this 'honest piece of furniture'. You're a restorer and in a way I also view you as a nurturer. You were working in the health sector and you also continue your love for furniture and transferred that passion to restore, revive and nurture vintage furniture. I wish you the best with your long distance relationship because a home maker and nurturer like you deserves the love and support of a caring partner

It’s nice that you found somewhere to work comfortably and suitably equipped as you follow your heart. Now two cities have the benefit of your woodworking abilities! I have been quite a few places overseas, but only Norway, Oslo to be exact, that you showed today. My favourite places ever, were Chesky Crumlov in the Czech Republic and St Wolfgang in Austria. That walnut was a beautiful unexpected surprise. I could almost feel this sad little table sighing with relief, very nicely done. I think I would have filled the holes without trying to disguise them, more because they're dirt-catchers if not, but it's nice to see the "history" of the piece left intact when much of it wasn't... intact that is. Just looking at it at first, green glory notwithstanding, I had a sudden strong sense that this little table had a long interesting story. I wished I could have reached out and touched it and connected. You did a masterful job making it a solid addition to a home again, a place to showcase a favoured plant or display a special book or photo. Thank you Barry for the respect you show for the work of earlier woodworkers and the beautiful wood.

What a beautiful transformation. Just gorgeous! How fortunate that it was mostly that lovely walnut. You did a beautiful job of getting the mismatched pieces to look more similar, while retaining the character of the old piece with the nail holes. As others have also said, I like the handles you have on it now, so if “better” ones don’t show up, these are just fine. People built farmhouse tables in the Art Deco period as well! It’s so great to hear that you have a relationship! A very fortunate partner you have to have such a kind, handsome, and skilled partner in you. Long distance can be challenging. (We used to quip something misquoted from the old AT&T commercials: “Long distance - It’s the next most expensive thing to being there!” 😂). But a good relationship is worth it. And the really fun part is how long you can keep that delicious “new relationship energy” going in an LDR. 😂 I wish you every happiness.

Superb job, as always. It doesn’t even look like the same table. No more ugly green paint and splits and cracks.

Barry this is beautiful. You do such great work. I loved the video of where you’ve been. It’s so cool because I recognized my home town in Va where you showed the antique brick building. Right on my Main Street. Imagine my surprise to see my town in your video!!! I enjoy your work so much.

Hi Barry, and greetings from Virginia! I absolutely love what you did with that little table!! It's great that you saw the potential beneath all that ghastly green paint. There should be a law against painting such gorgeous walnut! You truly transformed this piece from trash to treasure! Well done, sir!

Yes. It is the memories rather than the actual value. You hit it spot on.

That is absolutely beautiful!! I love your point of familiarizing yourself with new or different tools! And you are nice to listen to. You keep your explanations simple enough for anyone to understand 😊 Thank you so much for sharing!!

Barry so excited for you on so many counts, first you found someone special enough to go all the way to another place to spend time together, second you found this flexible Maker type place to even use tools you don’t even have sometime! Planing the walnut was such an interesting of a choice! Glad you got to see the Rockies where I am from in Alberta, Canada too!

Beautiful little table. It reminds me of the milking stool my gr grandpa made for my gr grandma. I even have a picture of her using it. It is unlike any milking stool I have ever seen.

I love the temporary pulls. They look like a pair of slightly blasé eyes, like that table's seen things - which it probably has. 😊
