Almost everything we Westerners learn about the ancient world happened in a small part of the planet, comprising Italy, Greece, Egypt, North Africa, southern Spain, Lusitania, Gaul, a piece of Germania and a small portion of what is today Turkey. In a way, that world that disappeared is still alive, because unlike gods and cults, statues, coins, personal objects, Literature and History do not die. They remain. Furthermore we learn to love old things, just as the ancients loved things older than themselves. Being in contact with a symbol of the great deeds of the past, touching something respectable with reverence, feeling the experience of transcending the normality of the present time... Just as Caesar wept in front of a statue of Alexander the Great, I myself was moved by see a large bust of Caesar at an exhibition of Roman objects in São Paulo, Brazil, a few years ago. I had already read his books, but the feeling of seeing an object from his time was a different experience. Through the figure in stone, that ambitious man who shook the ancient world paradoxically became more alive to me.

@9:49 We see the two men heading down the steep slope into the mine. In my opinion this incline is clearly too steep to be physically moving 500kg slabs of stone up to the surface. The total lack of workspace needed to use rope, block and tackle makes this place 'unlikely' to have been used in the way described.

An incredible journey to places that we don't even dream of. Congratulations to the Amazing Quest team. As an Indian, i would be soooo happy if you would take the trouble to pronounce the HIMALAYA correctly. It means the temple of snow. Hima in Sanskrit is snow, and Aalaya is temple. It is there in our scriptures for tens of thousands of years.

Greek mythology is a myth in and of itself! Lots of talk about ancient Greece and that's fine if you consider anything from the 1800's AD ancient! There was no Greece before this point in time, the word had not been invented yet!

i used to really like your guys documentaries. and then i just noticed myself not watching them anymore. you guys put some more out so i was like hey lemme check these out and they suck. im sorry but the video quality went down significantly there is ads every 4-5 mins. literally nothing is actually being taught in this. a documentary is for learning not watching ppl put trash in the sea and call it art. or just blank staring at ppl playing instruments. i literally love documentaries and learning. these are not that and its why i keep not watching them. maybe someday you guys will start making some good stuff again and ill come back but im not very hopeful
