I need someone talented like you to rebuild a motorised gate opening arm. The makers used nylon nut on a steel threaded bar which just strips the threads so won't work anymore!!

Threaded rod is not designed to take a compression force! This is not only ignorant it's dangerous.

What utter nonsense. Threaded bar is steel bar that has a rolled or cut helix on the outside. It can be used in a multitude of applications be it tension or compression when used as a bolt. What kind of load do you think it is normally under when being used? Here all load is passed directly down the central axis of the rod itself, and the steel bar is more than capable of handling what it is being used for. It is not lifting the entire car off the ground, the three remaining wheels are taking the lions share of the weight.

очередной домкрат из шпильки сыромятной, я надеюсь у автора хватит мозгов, больше на поднимать им внедорожник))))) и зачем у второго домкрата надо было шлифовать крышку, если она после этого стала криво прилегать к корпусу?

Not to be a hater, it’s quite nifty what you’ve built but you got no idea of the rating of that jack. Most are designed by a qualified engineer with a load rating etc. the compressive strength of the shaft, the shear strength of all the gear cogs etc. nothing bad will likely happen but who knows. I understand this video is more to show what cool things can actually be made and than nobody would actually probably ever make / use this.

Exactly! Threaded rod isn't designed for compression force and definitely don't wanna use stainless steel because of it's brittleness. Yeah the "jack" might work.... til it doesn't.

In addition. The manufacture of this "jack" is not economically feasible. Buying a good, factory-made jack will cost less.

Disappointed that you didn't first remove all the parts before sandblasting, left inside pieces with rust still on them.
