AMAZING FIRST TIME IN HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM 🇻🇳 (WOW!!!)

Our first time exploring Saigon, Vietnam!
Check out our first impressions of Ho Chi Minh City.
We started our day by having the famous Vietnamese coffee. We then made some local friends at the park before we indulged on some delicious Vietnamese food at Ben Thanh market. We were amazed by some of the tourist attractions, including the French colonial style City Hall and the nightlife at Bui Vien walking street.

Christmas is a real celebration in Vietnam, as 1/10 of the population or 8-9 millions are Catholics + 1 million Protestants. In Saigon alone there are over 200 parishes most churches nestled in the small alleys. Unlike the west you get 2 Sunday masses per church, In Saigon some churches have 6-7 masses on Sundays because there are too much people. If you guys still in Saigon for Christmas make sure to visit the small alleyways in district 8, Tan Binh, Binh Tan, Go Vap, Catholic neighbouhoods are going all out with the Christmas decorations.

Thanks a bunch for taking us along for an insightful journey of Ho Chih Min/Saigon. That kicking shuttlecock game is known as "Jianzi" in China. Steve, don't you think it's quite similar to "sepak takraw" in Malaysia? Aaah, those spring rolls are quite similar to Malaysian "chee cheong fun" where different fillings can be used. The batter is made of rice flour. It's very honest of that coffee vendor to give that Vietnam coffee filter for free when you purchased her coffee powder. You know what? I was given 6 coffee filters (free) when l bought 6 packets of coffee powder (200 gms each pack) 😃😄🤓 As always, interesting video with great content. Thanks, Steve lvana.

That's because many southeast asian countries share cultural similarities. However, cheong fun is actually a southern Chinese dish that was brought to Malaysia by Chinese immigrants. Vietnam also has cheong fun and dim sum, but they were brought over through Chinese immigrants from Guangzhou, Fujian, and Swatow. The Vietnamese rice rolls in the video were actually created before Chinese migrants immigrated to vietnam, and pack a different flavor. If you go to Thailand, many thai foods are actually thai-chinese, because Thailand has a really high Chinese population. A majority of southeast asian Chinese people all come from the same 3 nearby cities - Guangzhou, fujian, swatow - which makes certain dishes similar. For example, there's hu tieu from Vietnam, Guay Tiew from Thailand, Kuyteav from Cambodia, Kway teow from Malaysia/singapore/indonesia.

Xmas is celebrated by Vietnamese. For the majority of non Catholics, it’s more like a way for people to party, not so much about religion. VN used to write with derived Chinese characters for phonetically reason. During the French colonization in early the 20th century , a French priest came and created the VN alphabet based on the French alphabet. We have been using it since. VNese language is monosyllabic, consisted of composite words, hence the reason for short syllables words. For example “Love” is Tinh Yeu , meaning, Tinh =emotion, affection and Yeu= Love, the act of love …
