Thanks for the tip! found it in a spray bottle @ O'Reilly's 7 bucks , cleaned my 1988 Jon boat to look like it came out of the factory in Delhi La. in '88 ! it only took a few sprays to do the job plenty of water and a good brush. The boat had sat for the past 4 - 5 yrs uncovered .

Looks good! Also it's been said some oxidation on aluminum actually protects the aluminum from further oxidation according to the coast guard and their love for light aluminum boats they use in saltwater and fresh water uses.

A little hint on spraying your product, start from bottom using spray rig , it eliminates the drip look

Use a soft brush to agitate evenly after spraying and you get a very even result. Never let dry before hosing it off. Rinse really well and make sure it's all flushed out of the bunk carpet or any nooks and crannies.

In the HVAC business we used to use coil cleaner to clean the aluminum condenser coils. It's very caustic but it works well on aluminum. There are milder products for consumer use to be sure.

Also dilute the coil cleaner with water a little to make your milder product Strip Kleen makes a product called concrete and metal etch. It contains phosphoric acid, many aluminum brightners contain phosphoric acid. This is concentrated and you have to do a little chemistry (trial and error) by mixing with water until you get the results you like. I put it in a pump sprayer spray, lightly scrub with a soft brush and rinse, repeat until it’s as bright as you like. If you have shinny aluminum it takes the shine off and brightens. So if you want shiny you may consider buffing and polishing instead. PHOSPHORIC ACID IS ACID, SO TAKE PRECAUTIONS! PUMP SPRAYERS CAN MALFUNCTION AND SPRAY WHEN YOU DON’T WANT THEM. IT CAN BE DANGEROUS!

A tip from someone who has done this many times: Spray on the cleaner from the bottom UP not top down. This helps eliminates streaks. Other comments about wearing protective gear are on point. Inhale some of this stuff and you will regret it soon and again years later.

Dude... its aluminum cleaner. Its been around for decades. Order it or go to a truckers supply store. Its the same shit they use to clean their non clear coated unpainted aluminum rims.

Question. How long did the shine last? I can’t remember the product I used before on some aluminum rims but I remember the dullness returned fast. I’d like to try this on my boat but not if I’m gonna have to keep doing every month. Also, any stains on your driveway after this? Thanks for the video.

My boat still looks great after 5 months. With that said, I cannot vouch for the longevity of the shine beyond 5 months since the first time I used the product was at the time of the video. I had no discoloration or advers effect on my concrete after applying the product to my boat but I was sure to rinse it thoroughly and immediately. Good luck and thanks for watching!

It is sodium hydroxide or LYE. DIlute with water. An old technique to clean aluminum

In the middle, literally just got started

This stuff has been around for decades

It's basically acid and soap

You can use a brush on difficult areas but in most cases a brush is not necessary.

I just use apple cider vinegar

Your supposed to wear gloves ,goggles and long sleeve shirts and pants when you use this!

The cursedfisherman may want to avoid using this method to clean his boat or purchase a hazmat suit😂 It should go without saying; all PPE's should be used whenever using chemicals in accordance to the manufacturer recommendations.

Cursedfisherman are you serious their are SO MANY things we as humans should or should not do and you focus on hazmat suit to spray down a boat. I m going to buy this stuff and try it. Maybe you should wear a condom too if u try this at home just sayin can't be to safe. And don't forget a helmet.

When you do a video speak clearly and don't mumble,. what's the point if you don't speak clearly so people are able to understand you. and if you apply this there needs to be someway to spread it evenly say a stiff fibre brush etc.

Sorry you had trouble hearing the video. I am a one man show just trying to help a few folks out with a simple video of things I have learned or products I have used. You can use a brush if you want to help with a more even distribution of the product or very stubborn stains, but honestly I did not need a brush for my application. Just a thorough coating of the product, wait 30 seconds or so and rinse off is all I needed for my boat.
