AMAZING 5 Axis DMG Mori Machine Shop!
Ғылым және технология
1186mfg TOUR! An awesome machine shop with INSANE (I know you love that word) 5-axis CNC machines like the DMG Mori DMU 60 eVo, DMG 65 monoBLOCK, AND the DMF 260-11, which we literally can and DO walk inside of. PLUS, we're here for the new arrival of another machine---what's not to love?

When I see a machine shop that grows that fast it just motivates me to work more. Don't be jaleous guys. We see the nice part of the machine shop we didn't see the hard work and the problems behinds all that. KEEP GOING 1186mfg YOU KILLING IT!!!!!

Problems and hard work behind is much more interesting than machine presentation tbh.
Wow!!! Really amazing and inspiring.....thanks for always sharing these videos and showing us what we don't have access to. I also want to thank you for last weeks video in Chicago. Keep up the good work!!!
Thanks for the tour John. And thanks for allowing the tour 1186mfg :) Beautiful shop!
I just started training on a very similar machine. The machines are incredible and very satisfying to watch. Our company has barely scratched the surface of what they can do with it.
Thanks for taking the time to do this tour for us. For someone with limited experience in CNC, a whole hearted WOW is an astronomical understatement.

I just see a spoiled rich kid trying to be a machine shop. He's got the tools but I can see he lacks experience. That many machines idling he has a tough road ahead
Love going to Mori showrooms! Amazing company! Great machines! 😁
I have been around machines my entire life and I have to admit I am extremely impressed!!!!!!
It amazes me that people can get work for these types of machines. I’ve been working for my dad after I finished college in ‘05 and haven’t had anything remotely close come thru.
I run a Dmg 125 FD five axis with turning function in the table daily. Great machines and We also run Siemens 840d. One of the Best controls ever made.
Fusion must have come a long ways! I was just blown away when you said you are running these machines off of Fusion 360. Awesome work on your Instagram account!

Looks like devon is doing some amazing work. Keep it up 👍
Running out of superlatives, aren’t we? Amazing tour John, thanks for taking us along.
Wow what a shop. Feeling inspired.
I really enjoyed watching this. Awesome machines! In a few weeks there is a tech tradeshow in the Netherlands (technishow) I am sure looking forward to visiting it and looking at all the great machines!
I love the Evo's. We have 3 of them at work and it is always nice to work on that machines.
So awesome thanks for the video great to see tool tech and the gentleman that operate

nice.... i am the biggest fan of DMG with Siemens.. i run they daily 125H 4 axis horizontal and 125FD 5 axis with turning function.. both got 840D.... best machines ever.. And that i one clean shop... i hope its a real shop and not a showroom because i would love my shop to be that clean one day lol..
BEST VIDEO I'VE SEEN IN A WHILE!! - Quote "THATS INSANE!!"
I've seen a lot of machinery that was much larger, but it was nice to see inside this type of precision equipment. Thanks for taking us along on the tour and getting inside some of the inner workings. I had no idea the ball screws would have been temperature controlled. Very interesting.

Amazing machines and amazing shop. I follow this guy on instagram, always look forward to seeing his posts. Keep it up, best of luck in 2018.

I retired 6 years ago and at that time tool and machine builders told us the current tools and machines we were buying would be obsolete in 5 years. How true.
@highstreetkillers4377

Not obsolete, but serious machine shops only use shrink fit tools and buy modern high quality machines. The crappier machines like Haas make the parts you don't use these machines to make. It'd be a waste

As long as they still make parts . . . I own a 2004 Fadal 3016, 2012 Akira Seiki SR3, Prototrak 1540v and DPM2. Own 'em. No machine payments. Got done paying off my 5 year loan a year or so ago.
@ErostheEpic

@@pro-seriesfabrication3810 They still make parts and when you dial them in, you make those parts in tight tolerance. I recently bought another well taken care of Fadal 4020 fitted with glass scales that give me even more accuracy. Already paid itself off within the 3 months. Can't go wrong with a good machine.
@pro-seriesfabrication3810

@@ErostheEpic My fadal runs decently but it can't interpolate circles well. Usually within .002" round. After I bought the Akira, the Fadal just runs mild and stainless for me. Has a 10,000RPM spindle but the belts and motor sound like hell above 8,000 or so. Plus the spindle chiller leaks so it doesn't make sense to run up there all the time anyways. Drained the spindle chiller fluid and don't run it anymore. I bought it 5 years ago for $6,500. It's probably worth a little more since fadal came back and it was a steal then but I've replaced the vector drive, the spindle, and the air/hydraulic belt actuators. Oh and the LCD screen which luckily has a VGA port in the pendant cabinet so a $60 computer monitor took its place. The guy I bought it from had left a tool in it for almost 2 years so it blew up 4-5 of the belleville washers in it the first time I used a face mill. But it's the small block chevy of CNC mills. Super easy to work on and parts are relatively cheap.

Tip, with laser beam not being able to measure some tools with reflective surfices; use black sharpie on the tip of the tool you want to measure.

Is he making aero space parts? That shop is insane. He said he has only had the dmf 260 for four months and its his oldest machine? Along with the other machines that are all new thats crazy.
7:40 I think I saw something similar in your Orange Vise tour video.
These look like they belong in a scifi movie. We live in the future !
Even the fork lifts were cool.
devon dupuis: i know the DMG controls since 10y ago or so. Would really like your opinion on the celos interface, if you don't mind?
Wow!
We have Blum lasers and probes on two of our nv-5000 mills. Coolant is constantly breaking the beam and faulting the cycle. I like the way Blum does their probing cycles. But that's about it. I'd take a renishaw over a blum.
@highstreetkillers4377
5 жыл бұрын
Blum works excellent. All the machines that have them at my work are all covered. Weird DMG has it just sitting on the table exposed. But they will crash if you try to measure a tool longer than 1 foot. I find they also won't measure if theres too much runout
Still my favourite shop tour
#1 in the world!
Looks like Star Trek console off the Enterprise ! The magazine on the second machine you could BUILD the Enterprise.
Impressive machines, but I don't envy the service on that debt. Also better have the numbers right or the ROI on all that will be a killer. I have a job shop myself, but also do some of my own products that I manufacture and market. The job shop end is tough. Big companies love to ram stuff down the little guys throat. Wanting you to stock on your shelf, waiting 60, 90 sometimes 120 days to pay, meanwhile I have to cover my guys pay and material, overhead etc. I have a couple of brand new Mori's myself, but frequently my little simple 3 axis used Matsuura makes me more money per hour because it is doing my own products. And...don't discount the stress of laying awake at night wondering if some of the customers you bought all that stuff for will bail, because they can and they do.
I work for DMG MORI. This is not our showroom I assure you. This customer is in my territory. They are legit.

I'm a Mill/Turn guy. But your shop is sick! I love the productivity of a properly set-up mill shop. I've been a 30 year Mori Seiki supporter. Why all the bad talk of DMG/Mori? Is it because my salesman is now selling Doosan??
@Mike-lt6sj
2 жыл бұрын
Well, I have about 150 machining centers and the Moris are nice machines, we just don't like CELOS and their support is abysmal. They are pretty reliable, fairly accurate, and well made. Older machines have horrific sheet metal, but the new machines are much better. Some of the old NL with a Y axis have stupid designs, but overall they're OK. I'll take a Mori over an Okuma any day.

Thats why i'd have Tebis or PowerMill. I make huge 3d parts on 6 axis, i mentally collision check and never crashed. I also never run a program twice, simulate, or go slow. Do or die everyday. Thats why i laugh seeing people crash, idiots

8 years now i have been making programs everyday and never running any simulation or dry run. I never use the same program twice. I've never crashed, and i run programs where the spindle is below the part. I collision check with my brain and math, sometimes with 5 thou clearance. Just takes focus. I could collision check but I'm confident and the model is so large it could crash the computer. I machine a 50 ton block of steel into a front bumper mold. I work on a Mollart 2.5Camder. Bigger than these with 6 axis. Nowhere near as fancy and nice though
Lol, he did a Captain Morgan on the last pic.
