For those hating on the band because they're Israeli, just stop the hate already, I'm a muslim, and jewish people are supposedly, by some general stereotypical knowledge, my "ennemies", but as moral values, logic, common sense, in addition to my religion, we are all brothers whatever beliefs we have, and we should look up the other religions aswell because they don't differ from us, and this album is recalling the story of the jewish people and Moses in ancient Egypt, a story that is available in the Bible, the Qur'an and the Old Testament. So please, calm down, we all hate what is happening in Israel/Palestine/whatever you want to call it, but it's not by spreading free random hate that we will bring peace. This album is epic, the story behind it is a story we all know and believe in no matter what religion you believe in (or don't believe in). I just hope we can let go the political manipulation and live in peace whatever our beliefs are, for we all just human beings, and as melodeath metal fans, we should all know better about the manipulation behind this (Arch Enemy/Dark Tranquility or Epica on another register). Peace \m/

Thank you for your words my kind friend. I've been reading about the rise of anti-Semitism in recent times, due to Israel's operation in Gaza and I find it very disturbing, being Israeli Jewish myself. Your words are an inspiration that peace can be achieved eventually and that perhaps one day, people will stop hating others based on their gender, ethnicity and religion, even if this future seems very far right now.

actually, the story of the jewish people in the old testament is very inaccurate and contradicts what historians and archeologists have found for instance, the pyramids were not built by jewish slaves, they weren't built by slaves at all

wolffe93 Technically the Bible never says that the slaves built the pyramids. It's more likely that they were used for the brunt work (making bricks, heavy lifting, etc.)

Brendan Gibson they didn't do that either. the stoneminers and masons were all volunteers that were paid very well they were even given free healthcare
One of the best albums ever recorded in history of music... a truly masterpiece. Greetings from Argentina!!
2023 and yet the best concept album EVER created!
Mantap lagu2nya....👍🏼🤘🏼🔥💥
This is why I love metal, it really is the most diverse music genre there is! Whenever I think I've seen it all I suddenly come across this kind of stuff. I's like every type of folk music combines great with metal, and it's nice to see how one genre can bring people from all cultures and religions together. No discussions, no segregation, just a bunch of people enjoying music. Greetings from a germanic heathen from the Netherlands! :D

Speaking of Germans, Andy Kuntz of Vanden Plas was supposed to provide the vocals for this album.
for the past 8 years i always come back to this album - it is a unique kind of oddity in the metalverse because the band no longer, produced just this album yet the legacy is strong like it was meant to be eternal for our (metal) hearts and even beyond. Therion is also know for their concept albums but this one with the egyptian theme is really really like you found a needle in the vast desert and want to cherish it every time you remember it
All of a sudden I have an uncontrollable urge to build a pyramid out of my kid's Lego set...

Astonishing band + Mats Levén = Awesomeness!...Greetings from Chile.
When I first found out about Amaseffer and this album, the first song I listened to was Slaves for life. I felt in another world, back in the past, right in Egypt. Right after, I listened to the whole album, from the first song to the last, in consecutive order without a break. The pleasure on my ears and soul that this album inflicted on me is unexplainable. I cannot name any other song or album that has ever given me such complex feelings like this one. I feel honored to have found this musical art. It belongs into a museum, at least it should, decades of hundreds of years later. I am so grateful. There's so much soul and emotion in the singer's voice. I think the only album that got me close to this euphoric feeling would be War Of The Worlds by Jeff Wayne. Very few songs can make me feel this way. It is a musical treasure and I am a hunter. I am highly sensitive and I have a form of synesthesia. I am sensitive to certain notes and details put into songs, and I am telling you just how many details and we'll sync and smooth notes and voice high ups the album Slaves for Live has. The vocalist is a male soprane for me. Is the history of Israel in its whole glory, mythology and religion and biblical sentences all in one.
How could I miss this gem for so long????
2023 and this one's still my best! what a masterpiece ✨
I love this band!!! I don't care about any religious or political content! I love the combination of arabian and western music! In this case when arabian music meets western metal! Keep up the good work!
THIS ALBUM MAKE ME LOSE THE SENSE OF TIME...REALLY LOVE IT
It sounds so cinematic...
This album is like a time machine, capable of drive you back to the Ancient Egypt' empires that ruled Earth long before our existence.
You know, I had to buy it back then, when I first stumbled upon this here.... today I sort of rediscovered this and want to thank you! :)
Je découvre ce groupe et cet album. Impressionnant !
Beautiful. Beautifully sung. Excellent story. Perfect, and moving. This should be a play. Sounds a bit like David Bowie doing metal in some parts, and, what an amazing job he's done. :p This is magnificent. And so ambient. What an amazing mix of instruments, all utilized to perfection. I give this album 5 out of 5 beautiful and rare desert flowers.
Very very special amazing 🙏😇
Mats Levén best vocals world!!!
Great Work!! I adore vocal of Mats Leven !
Лучшее, что я слышал...
This is some of the coolest music I've heard in a while!
wow ,amazing eastern vocals and music
I'm not up with many ideas from the State ofIsrael, but that is not a matter to ignore the good people and musicians that lives there, this is a complete master piece.
This is simply amazing!!!
Piece of art!!...
o fuck, Mats Leven? he was the best from Therion's vocalists, great to hear his voice in such a unique project
The whole album is simply amazing.
siempre espere escuchar este tipo de musica, me encanta
Oh, make more music. This is an incredibly good album. I want to hear more.
This is badass and I thank you for spreading this awesome band! I'm not normally much of a Prog Metal fan but this band is fantastic and now I have to pick up their cd!
I listened to this album on repeat at work while stocking shelves for 8 hours every night for months... no wonder I felt like I was escaping slavery when I quit that job. :P Years later I still pray some of the verses like around 16:33 "My gracious God, please send me an angel." And 20:24 the prayer for protection for baby Moses, but I pray it like a third person prayer for myself. It's good stuff. Still looking for my Zipporah, "a fountain of life in the desert." God bless you all.
Fantastic. One of the best I've ever heard.
I think the vocals wipe the floor with Myrath actually. I love this album far more than Myrath's stuff. At least Myrath is actually doing something though. I haven't seen the next album or anything substantial yet from Amaseffer after this. Having a 6 year gap between albums makes me wonder if they're still around. But this album kicks ass and I will certainly get a physical copy of it when I have the money for one. Favorite track: "Midian"- I've heard the screaming in this song was Angela Gossow of Arch Enemy. If it is her, holy crap I thought that it was a guy screaming. I would not be that surprised if it was Gossow screaming though, because it is sheer badass delivery there.

Well I can't help but be biased when it comes to Myrath , however I can clearly pinpoint the differences and similarities between the bands both are honoring their heritage but they do it differently, Myrath chooses to be jolly and somewhat lighthearted whereas Amasffer is gloomy, solemn and theatrical. Myrath are my homies after all but hey I vouch for both bands :D Oriental metal FTW! :D

Oui c'est exactement ça. Super guitariste en plus qui n'en fait jamais trop, il joue vraiment au service des mélodies et des différents thèmes, c'est plutôt rare comme qualité dans le métal
Fantastic! :)
Esse álbum é muito bom!
I really enjoyed this!
This is pretty damn awesome, sounds like a more symphonic/slower Myrath in some ways!
Awesome band!
Spitzenklasse , unglaublich
i just listened there is one word have to say perfect album i dreamed something with music like watch a movie
"A great album"" "Great band"" "a new fan"
I fucking knew it, this guy also sang with Jupiter Society. That voice is way too awesome and impossible to forget, the ability he has to make "drama" while singing is impressive. Also, have to thank Orphaned Land too for making me look for this band. Awesome music guys. Keep doing this good job.

Mats Leven sang with... I don't know... It feels like at least a thousand bands ;) Most notably Therion, Yngwie Malmsteen and Candlemass.
Great music. Love it.
Huge fan of Therion, I'm so glad I stumbled onto this :)
amazing
More than awesome
thanks for uploading the album !! =]
Epic !
COOL!!!!
+linkiny your speech is one of the greatest things I've ever read-i'm not affiliated with any 'recognised' religion-but know brave, intelligent words when i read them-thank you.
Just discovered you guys. Great band!
Un bon album en general, encara que de vegades és una mica lent. Salutacions des de Catalunya.
what a voice!!
Also, this is one outstanding piece of art. Thanks for the upload, since I buy most, but can't buy all the music I like. :-) Astonishing combination of Oriental melodies and instruments with cinematic music and Metal -- less hard, but often even more diverse than Orphaned Land's style. A brilliant and innovative concept for a Metal album (allthough I'm not religious at all), nearly cinematically executed. A voice like a mixture of (formerly Kamelot's) Mark Vanderbilt [and Roy Khan in the more velvety passages] and some oriental vibe. And the Hebrew language, beautiful as always (still asking myself whether to learn Ivrit or Ancient Hebrew).
Life is #Prog. I really love this album. #MatsLeven #ProgressiveOrientalMetal.
Simply...wow *_*
i stopped listening to this music years and years ago, just never heard of this band before, thought to give it a try again, i totally did not expect these types of lyrics, amazing :-)

This is pretty good! It's like the symphony that played the newish zelda songs and disturbed made a metal baby
This just got taken down from Spotify. Such a bad thing. It is so worth it. This can't be. Is a waste to not let it on Spotify, really. Is pure art
Tov meod!!
super geiler sound
The singer sounds so much like Tobias Sammet from Avantasia, especially when he's reaching high notes... The resemblance is stunning! O_o
Does anyone else get very similar vibes, not just instrumentally, but also vocally, to Myrath? While they're undeniably very different bands, is this vocal style part of the Oriental Progressive scene? I'm a fan :D

Orphaned Land!!!
agree.
Yes I love this Album both Music and (being a firm Bible believer and Christian) the true stories in the lyrics....and how Music and words so go well together....but I must ask PLEASE GUYS,WHEN WILL THE 2ND ALBUM BE ON CD TO BUY.It has been overdue for so many years.Does anyone know more about this???

mats y su particular forma de cantar inconfundible ya sea con therion , at vance o radiance
that's 'cause the spanish music, especially the guitar, was influenced by the Arabian people and Moors, who concquered a great part of Spain around 900. It's still there in the music, like the use of the phrygian scale etc.
Odious black metal from Egypt. Pretty awesome band
Teneggar Cavalry are a Chinese black/folk metal band that incorporate traditional oriental instruments with extreme metal
hebrew + metal is love

Man! Ok! I don't want to beat up on this so much. and we also Must consider the fact that this album is a "Concept" album that tells a story. But? The fail for me? Was that every song lacked distinction from the next. :-( That, However, is Only my personal taste! even if I set out to write a concept story album, My attempt is to take the Listener thru either a rollercoaster ride of picture or emotions with each song projecting those or I keep a good mix separating the songs in emotion aspect and musically. This also means in a Concept album you Keep subtle familiarities within the album of each song. No Climax! No Closure! maybe this was supposed to head into a second story album? EeHemmmm... Each song desperately needed distinction from the next whilst still keeping the element of what the groups music character and story was. still GOOD! Great Vocals! Nice Chops! Great Instrumentation! but quickly became bored by 46:49. :-(

+Fiddlekrazy Steve While you're entitled to your opinion, I highly suggest you to give it a few more listenings and if you still find the songs not distinctive enough to your personal taste, might try and wait a couple of month and then revisit the album once more. There are plenty of bands I listen to nowdays that I didn't really enjoy, or found not distinctive enough the first time I listened to them.
@777fiddlekrazy

Oh! I didn't say or I did not wish to imply I didn't like it. It was sort of hanging on the same chordal and key. I always give groups more than one listen anyhow. Kinda like I advocate that a person should always listen to a song at least up thru the hook/chorus before determining whether they dislike it. Thanks! I'll be giving it another listen!! :-)

+Fiddlekrazy Steve I realized you liked it, but found some of the songs undistinctive enough. I thought the exact same when I first heard Myrath's Tales of the Sands. Needless to say, my opinion has changed for the better since then.

Orient needs music and black metal to expand as quick as possible, more quicker than Isis, black metal should be a symbol for freedom and exposing muslims not christians.
