If anyone knows the value to a career of an Academy Award it's Frank Sinatra. After he won his Oscar for Maggio in Zinnemann's From Here To Eternity, his career skyrocketed.

I can't believe they didn't mention Fellini's name, either in the intro, or in the announcement of the winner. What a bizarre way of doing things - particularly after Valenti has said 'in our own country the foreign film-maker is not only respected but often venerated'.
