Amadou Onana is an absolute must. 6”5, incredibly fast and mobile with legs like arms, he will make us the best rest defence in the world. Our weakness in the champions league with transitions will be gone. Physical profiles like him are very rare, I would definitely pay £50m for him.

Really disagree. You have to only watch his game for Belgium yesterday. Romania in a deep block and he certainly doesn’t have the footwork or vision to make high quality plays in the midfield. Most teams will be sitting back against us and he just isn’t the right fit. He is technically not good enough.

@@TortureArrow this would apply if Onana is the sole midfielder we sign, which would be a mistake. Onana’s role in this team would be starting with Rice against the top transitional teams and providing physical cover for Rice, which we don’t have right now. Against any other opposition, we start the LCM we sign (De Jong/Neves/Kimmich hopefully).

@@TheAlchemist25 these wages are heavily inflated because Barcelona asked to defer his wages from COVID to now, as they couldn’t pay at the time. Now the media run this narrative that de Jong earns 700k a week BASE, which is simply untrue and unfair on him. His actual wages are probably in the region on 250-300k, which for a player of de Jong’s quality, I’d gladly pay.

If it is true villa only want 50m for one of the best midfielders in the league (better and would fit us better than bruno G imo) i really want us to sign him we should walk in there and slap the 50m straight down on the table and walk out with a signed douglas luiz contract. Its a no brainer to me. I love the kimmich links, imagine we sign both him and luiz what a window for our midfield. Xavi, williams, kudus, eze all great options for cam/wing too imo i dont mind any. Gyokeres or osihmen for striker for me. Kerkez links im also very happy with if we sell zinny, tierney etc. Other positions can wait as arsenal rarely do lots of business but of course diomande would be first choice for a gab/saliba backup. Guehi is a solid option too.

Onana should play where Zinchenko/Kiwior plays, and invert inside allowing our #6, and #8 to go gung-ho upfront when we are in possession. That will minimize all of his weaknesses, allowing him to focus on the defense (much better than Zinchenko and Kiwior). Allowing Rice to go forward, and Odegaard and a left #8 LCM (like Erebechi Eze) to terrorize the opponent. In possession, Onana with our back three (or maybe 2 when White is also attacking) should be enough to protect against counter-attacks. And in that role, he doesn't need to make visionary passes, he only needs to make safe normal passes to the side and backward, or switch-play long passes to our wingers (his long-pass accuracy is 75%, quite better than Rice's).

As someone who lived thru the Wenger era of late signings, my threshold for patience over signings is very high

If defence wins you leagues, get Onana, the way he runs up and down that midfield is amazing, we need a few of those rough players that make opponents think twice when they are on the ball.

Williams and Onana would be a good bit of business.

It is the season of rumours. Nothing much in this post. Onana not yet good enough to upgrade Arsenal unless we are buying him for his big body size and his potential to grow into something better (he's just 22). I wouldn't know how good Partey was at 22. I'd go with 3 midfielders: Eder of Atalanta 33m, DM; Fofana of Monaco (CM),17m, Ebere Eze 20m + Nketiah and Nelson; then throw in Gyokeres (70m) Pedro Neto. Kadioglu is not priority unless we are selling any of Zinchenko, Kiwior after Tierny

Imagine an Odegaard 2.0 xavi simons loan..

We need another Ødegaard on the left. White, Ødegaard and Saka have been unplayable on the right side for 2-3 seasons now. Replicate this set up on the left side. Simple! Arsenal has always been a team with exceptional playmakers. Let's do it again. Just look at Mancity over the years. Plenty Fantastic playmakers in the middle. Though the success of Arsenal with this formation rests heavily on Declan Rice playing the CDM role very well.

Of I'm Arsenal......om saving myself 80-100 mil....and chucking Obi-Martins into to team.... additionally..... I'm buying Ferdi at left back... Odumande at center back....Onana and Fofana in mid field... that's just about 200 mil and im done....just me. PS....I would prefer Neves in mid field....but for the same price i get better versatility with the two I've chosen.

Why are we NOT talking about Kimmich??!! He’s quite possibly available for transfer and can play either holding midfield or right back, so very versatile. If he’s available and we don’t try and sign him, then that would be incredibly foolish
