JMB, probably the last truly world MX champion. Not only he won the MXGP, but also won US Nationals MX and SX. What an awesome rider!!!

You forgot to mention that he late went Gran Prix racing and won some 250cc GP's and even raced 500cc GP.

That guy was so fast and smooth on a 500. I saw him race several times in the early 90's. The guy left the sport too early. I never understood the Haters who didn't like him here in the States. I don't remember him ever doing anything to deserve that. Except maybe win a lot. He was good for U.S. SX/MX. He pushed our guys to get better or get beat. Nobody from Europe had done that since the 70's when they would fly across the Atlantic and beat the crap out of our best riders. I hope JMB is doing well.

He could hardly speak English and was shy so we branded him arrogant .No one and i mean NO ONE could wring out a 500 like him .Listen to the bike he rode it like a 125 always in the power band even johston will admit it .

Because France did not want to help us in the theft and occupation of the middle east. We decided to call "French Fries" "Freedom Fries", the French retaliated and call "American Cheese" - "Idiot Cheese".

JMB,when I was younger I used to follow all the motocross racers like Hannah,O'mara,Bailey,Johnson,Stanton,Mcgrath.Honda has had the best riders in motocross history for sure.I loved to watch you ride man.You were so smooth and technical, just like David Bailey was.I would have loved to seen you and Bailey ride together! That would have been a great race. You and Bailey are the two best riders I've ever seen.Thank you so much Jean.Hope to see you ride again,at least on youtube! Lol!

I believe Stanton was his best on a 500, so to see Bayle track him down and get him shows how amazing Bayle was.

JMB was a magician! And this wasn’t against second class riders, these guys were the best on earth🤯🤯🤯🤯 I’ve been watching some of these older races of the JMB era and the time of RC’s domination, in the light of Jett Lawrence’s arrival and domination of our current day “Open” class (450). Jett is certainly a rider whose name will be mentioned when speaking of the greats of the sport. He is certainly the very best right now and rides with such a clever style reminiscent of JMB. It’s easy to forget how good a rider like JMB was if you don’t look back for yourself once in a while. The guy was pure magic on a bike.

I think if Bayle had stayed he may have been the one guy to compete with McGrath in supercross. Either way, he was just so natural and great on a bike.

Mr Bayle- 1- Did you ever run Metzeler tires back then + do you remember what brand you used on this day? 2- I was fortunate in my teens (late 70's) to impress Ross Pedersen one day at training, (CR125Rz) and he told me to try his works Can-Am practice bike. His Can-Am contract had expired and he was testing his new Yamahas that day. The 250 Can-Am/Rotax pulled like a tractor from quarter to half throttle. Was your RC500 like that too? Your corner exits in this race look like perfect energy transfer with no wasted wheelspin. 3- You ever go bar-to-bar with Ross? thanks from Neal @ So Alberta
