AMA #14: 2023 Philanthropy, Evening Routine, Light Therapy, Health Metrics & More

Ғылым және технология

Welcome to a special edition of the 14th Ask Me Anything (AMA) episode, part of Huberman Lab Premium. This episode is a recording of a live stream AMA, originally exclusive to our Annual and Lifetime Members. We've decided to make the full-length version available to everyone, including non-members of Huberman Lab Premium.
Huberman Lab Premium was launched for two main reasons. First, it was launched in order to raise support for the main Huberman Lab podcast - which will continue to come out every Monday at zero-cost. Second, it was launched as a means to raise funds for important scientific research. A significant portion of proceeds from the Huberman Lab Premium subscription will fund human research (not animal models) selected by Dr. Huberman, with a dollar-for-dollar match from the Tiny Foundation.
If you're not yet a member but enjoyed this full-length livestream AMA, we invite you to join Huberman Lab Premium at www.hubermanlab.com/premium. By subscribing, you'll gain access to exclusive benefits including our regular monthly full-length AMA episodes, AMA transcripts, podcast episode transcripts, early access to live events and more. Additionally, a significant portion of your membership proceeds contributes to advancing human scientific research. You can learn more about the research we were able to support in our Annual Letter 2023: www.hubermanlab.com/annual-le....
If you're a Huberman Lab Premium member, you can access the transcript for this AMA episode here: www.hubermanlab.com/episode/a...

The thought of a 24-hour AMA session is genuinely exciting. I haven't pulled in all-nighter in ages, but I would gladly stay up for that, and probably call in to work

Hi Dr. Huberman, I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of your dog. I know how hard it is. I’m a vet tech, MS Anthrozoology, and I’m thrilled you are considering an episode on human-canine relationships! Will be looking forward to that. As a mom, also can’t wait to hear more on child development. Your work is inspiring. Thank you!

Thank you, Dr. Huberman. I had to stop after twenty minutes to let myself out of my apt for the first time in days. It was wonderful to feel the sunshine, again, even if only for maybe a half hour. I appreciate you more than you could ever imagine. No cold shower for me, just a nice warm shower ending somewhat cold and that does make a big difference. Stay safe and have a wonderful new year.

Going in too hard creates a dip around mid Jan. Just make one small change to set the year and maintain that small change until it becomes habit. For me that leads me to actually make a good change that isn’t overwhelming and doesn’t leave me burnt out quickly because of my high expectations and overload by having too many options

Series on child development! Yes! I’ve been listening to you for a while and it’s made such a positive change in many areas of my life, but I’ve not had as much success transferring these concepts to my child. Would love to hear about how we can instill tenacity and willpower, better physical fitness and nutrition, motivation and mental health in general… there’s just so much. Based on a mention in your episode with Adam Grant I’ve been getting into Dr Becky Kennedy’s work and would love to see her as a guest as part of this series! I’ve made my daughter listen to your podcast in the car with me a couple times - she absolutely hates it ;). But it would be a really interesting challenge to have an episode actually tailored to listening with your children (say target audience elementary to middle school) to motivate them to WANT to bring about positive change the way you do for adults.

A note from my side, I got 0 sleep before my first Full Marathon. Almost felt like puking at the starting line, but as the run got underway, the body held up and it was a great day. A friend told me that this is quite common, what really matters is that you don't lose sleep the 2~3 days before the last night :) I must say that I haven't been able to keep up with all the content you put out but I do like to put the episodes on while working, takes me a few times to get through them this way without losing focus on work but still a lot of fun. Thank you for being the coolest nerd (for me) on the internet :)
