This film is a masterpiece, it's an exploration of human behaviour, loss, growing old, and feeling love. The soundtrack is spectacular as well, props to Yann Tiersen, seriously.

the soundtrack really enhances the beauty of this film and ties it in a neat quaint bow
What I love about this movie the most is that it shows how a small gesture of kindness can change someone's life for good, she is the most selfless character, filled with idealism and delicate like a new bloom, which makes her the most lovable and precious person to those around her. If you have that kindness in you, remember to love and live like Amelie.
“Life’s funny, to a kid time always drags. Suddenly you’re fifty. And all the memories of your childhood fit inside a rusty little box” - these lines hit home so hard!! I remember thinking the 6 week school summer holiday was a blissful eternity, playing in the park with my friends on sunny days. Now the years just whizz by. This scene captures that sentiment perfectly.

Nowadays, french cinema is quite messed up. In a full row of low quality dramas, you hopefully get Amélie. In a full row of bad crime flicks, you hopefully get La Haine. French directors should varying the genres, even if it means to have less movies per year but excellent ones.

If you see the bloopers you will see that the last part where she drinks the shot and coughs is actually a blooper and people where laughing. She actually did get irritated by the drink and pardoned herself to the director right afterwards. Man Audrey Tautou is sooo adorable and such a perfect fit for Amelie
Powerful scene. Her own scheme played back on her and made her realize how precious time is.

The cinematography is extraordinary.
This movie is one of my favorites!! Such beautiful cinematography, music, actors, costumes! Lovely!!
_Amelie_ is one of my favorite all time movies. She goes from one plot to the next, like a good version of Macaulay Culkin in home alone. There is some innocent childish magic to how she wishes to make everyone around her whole again, and the way the movie provides flashbacks for each of her subjects gives us depth that we would otherwise not really have. The moral of the story is that if one is good, one should achieve the ultimate prize in the end, love.
Her character makes her even more beautiful
I'm a totally cynical person, especially when it comes to inane, sickly sweet chick flicks. Yet, this is my favourite film of all time because it's so well done. Every scene is so well crafted with little details that make you smile. It's a great story, it has a range of emotions, it has French flair, it has a great soundtrack, it is the complete package of joy and humanity.

That's what I said. You take any frame and have it as a beautiful picture framed. I think it was done in just a few colours with tints. Its the best movie I ever saw and I own every copy in Blu ray and other formats. I don't even own a bluray player.
Fun fact: Yesterday I finished my exams at 12:30h. The weekend before, I had a dinner on the bar of the mother of an old friend, she hadn't told me anything about him in a long time and in the few times I asked, she always answered that he was in a very bad way, so even if she gave me his number, I never dared to text him. The thing is that when I asked her mother about him once having had my dinner this weekend, she told me that he was working on the bar with her, so when I finished the last exam in the hour I mentioned before I went to their bar. Consuming was not my main plan, but luckily I had 2€ in my pocket, I entered to the bar and I only recognised him because her mother had described me how he looked like, he was almost twice taller than me and he didn't recognise me at first, he didn't even know I was going to visit him! We had in fact spent around 6 years without seeing each other. So, looking at his face and being astonished I asked him a chocolate milkshake, I drunk it and after I finished it, I waited for around 20 minutes trembling and staring at him thinking what to say. He was commenting with his workmate what a boring journey they were having, which increased my conviction of which I was doing was the right thing. He came to the bar, bent to catch some bottles, and I asked him: "*****, do you remember me?" He was shocked with the question and stood up to ask me: "What is your name?" I answered with my name and he was really shocked, he even sweared, he knew who was I. We had a talk of 2 minutes, because we both were really nervous, so I took my stuff and went out the bar, but I told him that I was going to return and we would discuss our lives more relaxedly.
This was a wonderful movie
I'm not crying, you're crying!
I love this film so much. I watch it every year or two. Its really a masterpiece of cinema the likes of which I may never see another example of. Its a gift to the world as far as I am concerned.

One of my favorite films. I'd love to look like Audrey but beyond the superficial - and the film's a visual feast! Her mission - to mend hearts...What could be mistaken for mediocrity esp by "wanting ever more" this film with "humble" poor folks, eccentrics, all those brands of cigarettes! I can't explain, not less is more, in its quirky playing with time, the era is not exact, I cant express what this gem of a fim does. Somebody smart can and in fewer words.
