This video brought me so much joy, I had a flashback to some of your earliest videos of you making big salads in your tiny tiny kitchen. Now you're in a different location and have a tiny tiny human! Its always such an honour to get to watch your evolution and journey. I loved to see all of the art and handy little shelves you have created to make the home uniquely yours. I like the concept of focussing on the things that really matter and letting go of what doesn't - i'm sure for most people it would lead to a more minimal life naturally anyway. xx take care

Great seeing you're doing well man. I found you and Brittany a long time ago, 2013/2014 maybe? Great to see and hear you're both killin it :-). You guys motivated me to get into minimalism, but I quickly fell into a lifestyle more like what you are living right now, what I would call not minimalist living, but simple living. A lifestyle not about having less, but about everything having a purpose. A beautiful desk with plants in the corner? Not minimalist, but simple :-). Have a good one bud!

There’s something I really like about your vibes. You’re so chill and I get a sense that you’re quite funny as well by some of the remarks you make. It makes really love your videos - think I could watch you do a running commentary on paint drying and still enjoy it 😅 Anyhow, I think you’re still pretty minimalist- your house tour has inspired me to throw away some of my junk, actually 🤭- but yeah I’d say you’re 7/10 minimalist, you just don’t rigidly restrict yourself to being ‘a minimalist’- you buy/find/build the things you want to have around and it’s usually simple and purposeful in some way. You mentioned making a video further explaining where you are in your relationship with Brittany and how you feel about it- I would love to hear more about that if it’s something you feel comfortable with sharing. I love what you both do and I really respect your choices, so I always love it when you reveal more about how that looks and feels for you- the good parts and the more challenging aspects of it. I’d also love to know about your diet these days- are you still plant based? Just asking out of pure curiosity- you’ve changed a lot since you were last posting regularly and it’s wonderful to watch how you try things out and either keep them going or adapt them to suit you more 😊 Anyway I’ve waffled on enough! If you’ve got this far through my comment thanks for sticking with me! Sending you and your family love and positive vibes from Scotland 💖

You know, Conor, if you are using and enjoying everything you own, you're "there" as a minimalist. You're not "more minimalist" if you have less than that. It sounds like you have what you use and want and no more, and that's the point of it all. So kudos to you for that. Thanks for sharing your tour and your thoughts with us. You are a beautiful soul.

What a joy to see a video from you! The house is sweet and love your Mom's blanket! Some good, interesting art as well. And that red fridge caught my eye immediately before you even mentioned it. Nice! I generally do not like dark rooms but that room with the wood feels right. Because it has the doors to the yard, it has the feeling of an extension of the outside, kind of like bringing the trees inside. In fact, a potted tree or tall plant in front of that small patch of wall between the doors and the fireplace would enhance that feeling. Just a thought. On the min. scale as you defined it, I'd say 7.5. Glad you are well and happy. 30:20 , that's the good stuff! 😉 I look forward to it. Peace!

Hi Connor! I definitely think you are in the minimalist continuum . Designating a number is not my desire as it is a label and highlights only my opinion. I follow you because for one you are so intentional with all things in your life, seeking and finding your bliss but two. Allowing others including your partner to do the same. This fine balance between taking care of oneself and adjusting for others well being is nuanced and complex. I feel like you rock it. Thanks for being an inspiration

I haven't checked to see if you've ever painted the walls, but one thing you can do, if you want to change it up, is to use fabric. I know that probably sounds crazy to some, but it works great to change up a space without actually painting it. Just a thought if you ever want to change it a bit, but don't want to paint it and make it so permanent. I did this in a rental and just used a staple gun. 💗

I thought minimalism was based off of each individual's standard for what adds value to their life....so along those lines you seem to be a 10/10:) If judging compared to other hardcore minimalists, maybe a 7? I love the dedicated office and KZread rooms with the open living room and simple bedroom - congrats! Are you and/or Brittany going to be at the Woodstock fruit festival this summer? I've never been but just considering it. not sure if you guys still swim in that world or not. I suppose I can go check out their website:)

The price of this made me shudder! I live in the uk and my 3 bed semi detached house with a 70ft long back garden is £400 a mth!

Love the solo chill video! I'd say an 7.5, especially considering that you're a parent. If we're talking about "essentialism" then a 9.5 😁

10 out of 10 minimalist as far as I’m concerned. Having a kid’s desk while you have a small child makes purrfect sense to me. I can tell that everything in your space is working for you in some gentle way.

I loved everything about this video! Thankyou so much for sharing! I have always wondered what the house looks like outside of the KZread room 😂 I mean I know I’ve seen some spaces in the vlogs but that doesn’t count! You are such a wonderful human 😊 this just felt like a friend showing me around and it was wonderful! Now I must sleep cause it’s 2am 😂 but I had to watch this 😍 PS I have no idea what to rate you on the scale cause I’m not minimalist at all in the slightest so to me you seem like a 10 😂 anyway goodnight 🥰

Hah I love that you want to be rated. Compared to me a ten 🤣 I used to be more minimal then I currently am but have taken in more items and actually want to do a clearing as I feel overwhelmed. You have such a healthy balance. A rating in general maybe a 7.

Hey Conor, not sure if you will see this comment since this video is like 5 months old now but ... If I want to switch to the type of sleeping mattress you have but I have hardwood in my room, what kind of thing should I put under the mat to avoid moisture buildup/mold. Alternatively, will rolling it up after sleeping take care of this issue? Thank you - much love

I think the few extra pieces in your home seem to stem from love for others and creativity of self. Those are areas you’ve never appeared to be minimal with. So practically, it’s an 8 on the “stuff” scale, still very minimal…But a 10 when it comes to appropriating energy in the places that matter to you in this moment. That’s minimalism in my mind, giving everything of yourself to the minutia. Lovely space. I get a great vibe from that fridge 🤣

Ahhh, love the space!! No minimalist rating from me. Minimalism to me is is about having things that add value to your life. I have 3 kids and 4 bedrooms and almost 2 acres of land and therefore A LOT more things than you, but I'd still consider myself minimalist because what I do have is intentional. Sounds like that's applicable to you as well!!! Things are kind of crazy where I am at and my partner is trying to convince me to move to Austin. I'm not a city person, what I hear about TX though is either you're in the city or in the country. I need to be close to things but have LAND! If I ever sell my house I want at least 5 acres.

There are good sized lots about 30-45 minutes outside of Austin. I personally love it here more than any other place on earth I've visited so far. Can't say enough good things about it.

@@ConorMcmillen I'm definitely planning a visit someday, I've heard so many good things about the area. I'm just so far fromma city person. I like my house and how I look out every window and see trees and can't touch my neighbors house. I also need to be close to people! Community is literally everything, esp. right now. While things are legitimately insane here I thankfully have community which isn't.

It does seem that the minimalist experiment in large part has shown to ultimately not work as most of its more known adherents have in practice if not word abandoned it. Perhaps intentionalist would be the better term. As for Brittany, no hate at all, but I think your getting the short end of the stick and that rarely (ever?) ends positively. Doesn’t make anyone the bad guy but as my very wise grandmother once told me, a clean break is ultimately more healthy for everyone.

Wow $ 2250? I've forgotten US rental costs. I'm on Italy and it's around €350 a month! How much does youtube generate for you if you don't mind sharing? BTW.you're an amazing person. You have a really lovely balance of emotion and alpha male.

I think you are an 8 or a 9 because the stuff you have a lot of is of certain categories and even then it isn't that much. What is that octagon looking thing in your bedroom on the shelf next to the books?
