There are a lot of people that are faster. But at the time he was the fastest and the fact that a black runner beat world records and proved to the world that black people could achieve things was so big at the time.

I love all the races....but I think Morgan Freeman said it best in an interview.... When asked "How do we end racism?" He responded "Stop talking about it!!...." And I believe he is right!! He also said and I am now paraphrasing..."I'm gonna stop referring to you as a white man and I'm gonna ask you to stop referring to me as a black man".... I absolutely agree with him!!!!
