Alvord Desert to Owyhee Overland Route Day 1 - Wetter than Anticipated
This day one of the Alvord Desert to Owyhee Overland Route. This is a new route that Donald from Soft Roading the West and I are working on. This Overland route will take us from the Alvord Desert to the Owyhee river canyon from there we will travel along the Owyhee river canyon up to the Owyhee reservoir. We encountered a lot of historical locations along this route. Make sure to follow along the entire series.

It’s still less rusty than the one behind my parents house. Ugh. Scouts are so cool.
A glass of bourbon and a Primal Outdoors video. I look forward to these peaceful moments. Thank you.
Been watching soft road for awhile. It's how I found your channel. Can't wait to check out more videos.
Another great video Jason!!! I love it out west and I truly appreciate being able to get trip ideas for out there. Being from Michigan it's hard to get out there enough to see it all so any little ideas I can pick up on from channels like yours I take advantage of!! Can't wait to see the rest of your trip, stay safe :)
This was a fun Day 1 for sure and a pleasure to relive it through the Primal Outdoors lens.
I want to get back down to Oregon this summer. Thank you for the inspiration
Just watched Donald's video of this same section before clicking on yours! Looks like a great trip.
I already like what I've seen and looking forward to the rest.
Lots of rattle snakes so watch your step! I love the area and go there every year or so.
I love to ride the Owyhee back country but I'd never do it during rainy season! I drive in from the Idaho side and I see wild horses all the time.
That lake looking thing you crossed had me worried. I was waiting to see someone sink 😳 seemed sketchy to me but apparently not. Cool video ✌🏼
Neat spot with the Scout!
Great job guys
Stunning Jason, thank you!
Epic scenery. Love it.
Owyhee canyon is awesome....great to see it again after my trip there last May. Looking forward to the rest of this trip....thanks for sharing!
Great video. Love the drone work. Van looks tough on the trail.
Adventure! Love it!!
Looks like an awesome trip.
Love your adventures! Love it when you're with your companions!! Thanks for sharing!!
Hello Jason !
Beautiful video buddy thanks 🙏
Looks like a great trip Jason! Thanks for sharing it with us!
Always like your vids, and always enjoyable content. Many safe travels, and have a happy New Year.
Awesome video man
great drone shots. thanks
Love seeing the places you go! I envy your lifestyle. Keep on adventuring!
Man both you guys improve with every single video you put out, love ‘em and inspired by them
Happy New Year ,,,awesome video as always ! Traveling with you ,at least on screen !
Awesome to see some real overlanding in Oregon, thanks
The lake was beautiful. Happy New year.
Great video….excellent choice on the Rippin!
Great adventure!👍🏽😀❤️🇺🇸
Nice job, Jason, and great country to travel in. Recently did a four day trip on the east side of the Owyhee, ended up at Rome and enjoyed every minute of it. See you out there...
Thanks for taking us along Jason. It always amazes me how wide open Eastern Oregon is compared to the west side. I see you're a fan of one of my favorite beers too, Sun River Rippin. That is a really good pale.
Great video Jason . I watched Donald's video of the same trip . The big truck little truck thing is very apparent .You are focused on the landscape and Donald is focused or the road he is driving on . Both of you are great .
This was such a great adventure!! I bet there's tons of great grassland birds in that area too!! I am an avid birder and that type area is always intriguing because it's so off the beaten path.

Oh yeah there were quite few Chukkar hunters in the area
What’s up buddy!!
I think you passed me last Thursday as I was heading to bend. Somewhere around black butte ranch area? Love your videos, love your pup. Take care!
Damn, great video first and foremost! I'd love to see if my old Ford could make that trek.....Can't wait for the next time we meet my friend.
Consistently good videos on your channel. Actually your craft gets better. Now onto Donald's video.
Jason, if I ever can get the FJ80 from Georgia to Oregon would love to meet up with you and hit some awesome trails! Love the videos!
Southeastern Oregon is one of our go to camping locations. The challenge for us is I tow a large travel trailer with a flatbed tow truck that has our Suzuki Grand Vita on the bed. The truck and trailer do not handle the rough and slick roads often found during the winter months.. I also have had issues with traveling 30 miles on BLM roads to come to a private ranch with signs that read " Private Road No Trespassing" Has that been an issue for you? We have been lucky at seeing large herds of feral horses and pronghorns in that area.
Great video just wish it was longer. Seems like you have been in a rush. Don’t mean no harm at all just letting you know a opinion. Thank you.
WOW, this is about as remote as it gets… I’d be interested in knowing the history of this area, what’s it been used for if anything.
nice van and wonderful place ! what's this car?
How do you find amazing trails like this to go on? I’m always stuck to campsites and forest service roads
👍🏼
Hey , Where’s The Pendleton?? 👍😂
Did you guys ever run into a canyon called “Leslie’s gulch.”
🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
👍
Jason, how many gallons is the fuel tank in your van, and how much extra fuel do you carry with you?
👍🍺
What time of year was this?
What's the name of your van Do tell please🙏
How much fuel do you take with you on these destinations?
That moment when the title brings back memories of high school sexual conquests.
We went through some puddles and I warmed up a can of soup.......damn thats some content there....
Fantastic videography but I cringe with every public/social media mention of these areas because we’re seeing a steady increase of people that don’t have the same respect for the land as you do. It’s exciting to recognize every spot you just visited but depressing to know this will ultimately introduce more people who scar the area by making their own trails, donuts and high-marks. I know that’s not the majority of your audience but why make it easier for the masses?

I am with you on that. Don't mind seeing video of the area, but when they start to promote where they go....

@@swidahooverlanding2867 Funny how, some people, if you pay (patreon, etc…) they will give you the location.

@@brettferguson6954I It is complicated for sure. Luckily I have never had to make that decision since I out priced that option on my Channel on purpose. Thanks for watching! George.

@@swidahooverlanding2867 And…I understand/agree with NOT giving your EXACT location but….at least give me an idea of the area you are in. I mean are you in Montana or Vermont when doing your vids. If you don’t give me some idea…what’s the draw for “liking, subscribing, or even watching” 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️

@@brettferguson6954 I can't speak about other channels, but most people who watch my videos are older and just enjoy the ride. They tell me it is like they are riding along with me. That is really all they want, no talking, no music, no advertising just adventure. I do however put clues in my videos. I have quite a few people who tell me they have figured out my routes and they find it fun to do. Donald from Softroadingthewest is in fact one of them. I am located in SW Idaho so most of my travels are in that area. If I am out of that area then I usually include in the video description a basic area I am in. Watch for road signs, town names, information signs, obvious points of interest, even my titles give clues to where I am at times. I put clues in my videos on purpose because I know that people can figure it out just as I have figured other peoples routes by watching their channels. Not sure if they do it on purpose or not though. It is part of the fun. I figure if you are willing to figure out a route by clues then you are probably going to be a respectful person to that area as well.
ill be back when your videos get longer
I just noticed…. Either Jason is very tall or Donald is very short 🤔
Who owns all that land? People are all being kept crammed up in city's.. Humans dont even use 15% of the world's lands. Why?
