Dude, it speaks volumes about your personal integrity that you would choose to share how to do this with the world like that. Righteous.

Single turn coil. Great design and I have considered messing around with single turn coils but haven't had the time to really dig in there and try

I only run the Alumitones in my bass guitars. What people don't realize is the output of the Alumitone is actually extremely low until it hits that secondary he was talking about. That secondary is actually the secondary winding of a transformer. The Alumitone pickups are really high quality audio transformers with a magnetic transducer on the primary side, instead of an electrical source. It's actually a pretty ingenious design.

I don't know if it's b.s. but this has me interested enough that I have bought a Bass bar and I'll be installing it on one of my basses. It really is hard to hear what any pup sounds like on a tablet. These have intrigued me for a while so I'm taking a chance as I found one for a good price.

A lot of this is marketing B.S. The reality is they just came up with a way to make something that emulates a regular humbucker at a way cheaper manufacturing cost and have to use marketing fluff to justify its price. Don't get me wrong, they don't sound bad. But, they're using way less copper, much cheaper magnets, and these are way easier to manufacture (thus cheap to produce as well). No way they should cost what they cost.

@@denizenofclownworld4853 That's the way of the world. They do things like stick a famous players' name on something and charge a premium.I found a guy (Epic Customs) that hand winds P + J pups and sells them at ridiculously low prices.I took a chance and bought some Ps and they're the best P pickups I've ever heard.Biew my Geezer EMG (which isn't a bad one) away.

hi, thanks for this , ,I'm thinking of getting one of these pickups for a sitar. , iv a few questions , 1, can the transformer be moved from under the pickup plate to the side ,as I need the space under the pickup for the sympathetic strings to pass under the pickup , 2, do you need to and a volume pot as I don't need to change volume just need it full all the time and it would save me from drilling into the sitar to add one ,3 if I did need a pot just a volume pot what size should it be 500 or 250 ,,, iv tried to email the company a few times but they haven't got back to me , thanks

I recently bought two Alumitone Bass Bar 3.5s for a custom made bass. I found them on Reverb. Because they were represented as being in mint condition, I made the huge mistake of not measuring the DC resistance before installing them. The neck pickup worked fine, but the bridge pickup was dead. I pulled it out and found that there was no continuity at all between the orange "hot" wire and the white/black "ground" or common wire. I hoped to be able to figure out the issue, but the tiny transformers were so tightly wedged into the aluminum frame that I could not remove them without running the risk of completely destroying the pickup. I wrote to Lace, and never received the courtesy of a response. I have written to many pickup manufacturers and these folks are the ONLY ones not to bother answering my emails. I ended up sending the pickup back to the seller who understood the situation perfectly and is refunding my money. From searching online, I have found that Lace is fairly renowned for their awful customer service. I have also heard that, because the pickups are so cheap to manufacture, that when one fails in warranty Lace just tosses them out and sends a new pickup to take the place of the defective one. Most pickups are way over-priced, so I am not singling out Lace for price gouging as that is pretty typical for so-called name brands. But it is very disappointing that they are completely unwilling to help a customer. This is what turns customers into ex-customers. I did find another bass bar from a reputable source, for a much reduced price, but I sincerely doubt I will ever buy anything else from Lace.

I would avoid take an expensive pickup close to the another magnet. It can kill the pickup.

This does not reveal any secret. Why don't you mention the two transformer coils that are hidden in the shrink tube under the frame?
