    And if you think a rewire is bad enough, it's more like replacing the entire electrical system. Homes old enough to have aluminum wiring likely have far too few circuits to keep up with modern electrical demand. A friend and I did a complete rewire of a home he had inherited (with the supervision of an electrician) and had to expand the system from 8 circuits to 24 circuits. Every receptacle had to be replaced with arc fault/GFCI and the number of outlets per room had to be dramatically increased due to current NEC regulations. In California that means a massive amount of work.

    So call out ANY aluminum you see at panels? Just clarifying. Is the trouble aluminum identifiable in any way? Thanks Rueben!
