I fucking love strongman exercises. Im just a beginner (75 lb. sandbag carries, 60 lb farmers, 125 lb sleds, etc) but it is SO MUCH MORE EXCITING than machines. Thank you for all your strongman shit over the years, Brian. There is sooo much content to go through and I cant wait to become stronger.
"If you don't have a rope, use a cat." LOOOOOOOOOL :D :D :D
Visit your local microbrewery for kegs. They own the ones that the restaurants use. The one I worked at had a ton of worn out kegs. I would imagine most microbreweries are the same. The ones you get from them will most likely be clean.
One of the most humble dudes around! Glad i found your channel brother!!

As far as kegs go, if you have a local brewery you can sometimes get/buy for cheap decommissioned kegs, or kegs that are, for whatever reason, no longer foodsafe.
Just found you on the tube and subbed. Very helpful content. For the "Incorporating Strongman" video that is on Thrall's channel, where would you add cleans? Also, in the same video, you pair the strongman movements of dead lift and press with the strength workouts for dead lift and press. Would that be just more dead lifting and pressing for the strongman portion? Thanks for your time and effort.
This is a pretty darn awesome video.

What I wanted to hear wasn't in it :-(, I have quite some strongman equipment at home ( yoke, axle bar, farmers handles, duck walk, log, tire) but I don't have stones, any decent way to mimic them or should I just go deep and buy a slater mold?
Alan sent me here. Great content ! Greeting from Morocco :)

Found you through Alan Thrall's channel and I'm looking forward to binge watching you videos. Do you put any sort of liner in your military duffels to keep sand from leaking out or just roll with it and vacuum a lot?
@BrianAlsruheOfficial
7 жыл бұрын
Hahaha i definitely use liners but have done my share of vacuuming because I wasn't always so smart...
I attempted to throw a keg like you did in the beginning though I was totally unable to haha
I found out that 1-1/2" steel pipe is what you need. It is just under 2" on the outer diameter, which makes for a pretty close fit for Olympic weights. You'll also need good collars, since it's just barely undersized for spring clamps.
@BrianAlsruheOfficial
7 жыл бұрын
Yep, those are the ones you need. And you can find Strongman or OD bar collars that will fit. they are usually always red

top guy
I need to work on the grip strength in my left hand, I can safely do a farmer's walk, with a hex bar holding 230 lbs and no back or knee braces, but after 1 minute of solid carrying my left hand wants to let go before my right.
Hi brian can I replace the keg with gas tube for cooking lol
Im trying out strongman a bit, im only 16 and dont have much equipment but we have enough logs and stones around our house so that works
I like your channel! Could you tell me how much exercises you do on each part of your trainingprogram? ( the one on alan's channel) like two on the assisted and two on the strongman? thank you
@BrianAlsruheOfficial
7 жыл бұрын
It depends on what i am doing for the day but usually I will do 3 for assistance in a giant set and the strongman would depend on what i am working for that day
When do you implement loaded carries into your workouts? It looks like a staple in what you do, and that it's done after the main strength movement, but it's hard to tell if it's used daily or every other day or so. Thanks, Brian.
@BrianAlsruheOfficial
7 жыл бұрын
I do some sort of weighted carry at least 2-3 times a week. Yoke I do on a day all it's own. if I'm doing Farmers, Stones, Sandbags or kegs i will usually throw them in on my deadlift or squat days. And as far as weights are concerned, just check out this video on Alan Thrall's channel, kzread.info/dash/bejne/fZyJuY-gnrC0j7Q.html Stick to it and you should be well on your way!
Came from Al's channel and was wondering what strongman lift do you consider best bang for buck in terms of overall body strength? I work out in my garage and out side with dumbells, barbell, bands and pullup bar. I also have a keg and 2'' barbell.
@BrianAlsruheOfficial
7 жыл бұрын
Honestly man, the weighted carries and loading movements. I'd get a sandbag and load it heavy then work carries and loads to a platform or over a bar. Once that gets easy, try to get your hands on some atlas stone molds and start using them. i think hands down, Atlas stone loads/shouldering/carries will do more to build up your functional strength more than anything else
Very awesome and useful video dude. Could you recommend me some books or other sources that you found helpful about lifting? or even make a video about it so more people reach this information. My most useful so far is ProgrammingToWin.
@BrianAlsruheOfficial

Just a heads up so anybody doesn’t do the same dumb mistake I did. I picked up 10 feet of 2 inches electrical conduit, cut to length for dumbbells and an axle, had the end welded, got them from the welder and... they’re slightly more than 2 inches in diameter... bring a small plate to the hardware store before buying lol.
Advice for small hands short arms and strongman?
Got a link for where you get your military grade duffel bags?
Brian great channel !! Quick question. I just turned 40. Threw work family blah blah blah I have become a fat shit! Over 300 lbs. the fat doughy 300. I had enough and joined a crossfit gym and enjoy it especially the Olympic lifts. That being sad I love the lifting. Is 40 to old to start strong man type lifting or should I just stick to crossfit?
