Altered Board Book Part 3 | First Spread

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This year, for #the100dayproject I am working on using some of the bits I have stashed away that have become "too precious" to use. Honestly, most of my stash feels that way. So, it's time for me to break that mindset and use some of these items. I'm calling it my Not Precious Project and you can find more about it in my blog post here: www.craftyhope.com/2024/02/th...
In this video, I work on the first spread in a little board book that I'm altering with some of my (not)Precious items.
Also, in this video I mentioned (and encourage you to check out) Aimee Bishop ‪@aimeebishop9851‬ and Maddison of Mad Fox Studios ( / mad_fox__studios )

Thanks, Deena! I can't resist those Tim Holtz elements that I often forget to use. This was a good reminder of how fun they can be.

Thanks! There was a bit of futzing, but it really did work out. I still wish the two pages felt more cohesive, but I suppose they don't HAVE to.

Do you have a video on rusting your papers?

Alas, I do not think I have one here. But, over my my instagram, one of my two highlight reels shows one of the ways I've done it. Usually, I just pile up a bunch of papers, fabrics, metal, and rusty bits in some kind of container with a bit of vinegar and salt. But, it's been a while since I've done one (as my stash has piled up). I'm sure you can find quite a few other rust-dye techniques here on KZread. Lately, I've been prone to like the results of rust-dying with black tea rather than the vinegar. But, that's just one method and the results are indeed more "black" than orange rust.
