The Alpinestars Bionic Action Jacket gives riders a new option for off road protection. Designed with maximum protection in mind you would think with all of the armor coverage you’d be roasting in the heat, but Alpinestars has worked hard to ensure breathability is maximized and efficient so that hot days won’t be preventing you from hitting the trails.

    J’ai u un accident de moto en juillet 2023. Il faisait plus de 40 degré du coup j’y ai mis cette combinaison. Elle m’a sauvé la vie à 130 km sur autoroute.

    Which one is more breathable and cooler to wear during the hot summer months, this one or the Leatt Airfit?

    I want this for Skateboarding just fir the Chest & Shoulder protection & I could still put my 187 Elbow Pads on top of these Elbow Pads for even more Cushioning when falling on the pavement or roads!

    Just purchased this version (there is now a V2) and man, it is so uncomfortable. The chest plate is pretty much straight up and down, which is not the shape of a chest, so it rubs when I am moving around. The shoulder cups seem a bit to small and tight around my shoulders. Finally, the elbow pads some down to far on my forearms, and the only way to keep them up is to overtighten the forearm velcro strap, which makes it too tight. I am 6'1" 190 and not a muscle guy. This is the big problem buying cloths like stuff online.

    Thank You for the detailed description! I’m a new rider and only getting familiar with all the gear possibilities. I do have the Alpinestars Stella T-Jaws V3, but i am considering one of these, either this one or the Bionic action V2, since summers get quite hot in here. I wanted to ask You, are these armors suitable for ladies as well?

  • @RevZilla

    They do have a Stella (women's) version of the Bionic line that will likely be a better option for you. Just keep in mind that these are designed for off-road use, if you are using them on the road you will want to factor in abrasion layers overtop. These are armors for the impact, road-riding means you need to factor in abrasion resistance for the asphalt as well. www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-stella-bionic-action-v2-jacket

    Is it mesh under the pads? I’m thinking about getting one and wearing a denim jacket over it for street riding

    Yes, under the armor is a mesh liner.

    How would the likes of this compare in protection to a tech air 5?

  • @RevZilla

    @RevZilla

    Airbags absorb a lot more force than traditional armor, though this will cost less and cover more area like the arms. It’s comparing apples to oranges but both have their pros and cons.

    @RevZilla great thanks. Certainly think I want the tech air 5. Helite is a great option but looks a little dorky but I do appreciate safety is way more important than looks

    I'm 6'2 - 160 lbs. Slim guy. What size should I get

  • @jaromor8808
    @jaromor880811 ай бұрын

    6/10 1) the XXL size is made only for fat people (in the US you call them "big")... for big & fit people the Velcro belt ends up with only a very short contact area, so it breaks loose easily 2) no way of storing your pocket stuff, like keys for example... even if you add a small carabine to your keys there's no place to hook it 3) I would prefer double-D rings for the elbow/forearm protection instead of the Velcros... Velcro isn't exactly known for great durability

    Sportsbike work but no abresion as he said, so you get impact protection from pads, but if you slide it will hurt. I personally wear it when it's too hot, but as I said careful with the slide

    Question 1: can this be used for EUC or Electric scooter riding? Question 2: what's the best way to wash these body gear? Will you make a video about it? Question 3: it's fact that these gear it's made for BMX riding. Does it also work well at the streets at low and medium speeds?

    1: You can use this for whatever you want, but it is designed for crashing off road on dirt bikes so won't provide you any abrasion resistance which is needed when hugging asphalt. 2: Each gear will have instructions for washing them built into the liner. Since each material is different and has different requirements, following the label is best. Good rule of thumb is as light / easy of a wash / detergent as possible, by hand - then air dry. 3: See answer 1. Ride safe!

    are body armors like that also good for street use?

  • @RevZilla

    @RevZilla

    They are not designed for street use, but you could use them that way if you wanted to. You would just need to add an abrasion resistant layer overtop of the armor to protect the slide of a road accident.

    U can also open the back piece and fit 2 debit cards and your ID in there lol. I highly recommend this jacket. It's a great buy man. It allows a lot of air flow so it sucks on breezy days.

    Too bad the elbow protectors rotate around & end up sitting on top of your arm & not covering the elbow, this is from experience.

    As someone who just crashed like 10 days ago, my elbow was not the first thing to hit the ground. My whole forearm is still wrapped up. I just tried on this "jacket" with my arm still wrapped and the armor perfectly sat where my arm is currently shredded lol, I'm 100% buying one

    Most riders will toss a jersey or jacket over it since its made for off-road.

    I use this jacket for eskating. In the summer months I use an undershirt under the jacket. I then throw a motocross jersey over the armored jacket. I took a nasty fall and tore up the jersey but the jacket was fine. The mesh is delicate and one fall on asphalt woulst ruin the jacket. Plus it looks weird as an outside jacket. In colder months I throw on different levels of jacket over it depending on how cold it is.

    Typically an even trade off for off-road gear since CE2 is nearly double the thickness and thus harder to move around with.
