Went over Spluggen Aug 23 and my Nav 5 napped it too, in fact most gorges or close mountain's it gave up. Agree it's lovely scenery, I went up Susten pass at night just for the crack, was super spooky.

Nice video, I have been going to the Alps for many years mainly on GS's but since last year I prefer going to the Vercors, Chevennes and Pyrenees, great roads too, less expensive ( Andorra, Eur 98 costs EUR 1,10 a litre, and that counts when filing up a GSA) and above all, very very quit. The Alps is sometimes too crowded. Check it out when you can!

Nicely done! I'm riding from UK to Interlaken in August, doing surrounding passes and possibly Italy. Not sure there's enough to do and possibly weather might be iffy in Switzerland for a week... Would you recommend the ride from Switzerland into northern Italy?

HeadhunterUK007 tricky to call.. to be honest if the weather is good stay in Switzerland the roads are amazing if the weather is bad I think I'd still stay in Switzerland, maybe go across to Austria (if you have time) and then come back via the black mountains (Baden-Baden) there are some stunning roads all over that area. we thought about Italy last year when we had bad weather but it made no sence to just keep getting further and further away from home... only advice I can really give is be realistic with the time you have. make every day enjoyable not a choir having to cover big miles. Italy was nice but Switzerland is amazing wet or dry. I really hope it's dry for you though it's a whole different experience especially when you're up in those mountains. good luck mate hope you have a great time.

HeadhunterUK007 no problem. best thing to do is just play it as it comes. we try not to book anything because plans change. we tend to have an idea where we want to go then make the rest up. the campsites and hotels are great you shouldn't have a problem getting in anywhere even in the Peak season. let me know how it goes. and thanks for the comments HHUK really appreciated ✊😀

So, I find this exactly one year after you filmed it, and immediately subscribed. Fantastic video. I'm doing the same journey but one way - going to Salerno from Swindon area. I'd really like to know - did you take a laptop with you to load your video onto, or just a hard drive, or did you have loads of flashcards to store and try and catalogue? Anyway, superb vids, thanks, Joe.

NoOrdinaryJoe yes Joe I carry a small Acer one notebook (any cheap laptop will do) it's just easier and quicker to transfer files from flash to any type of HD plus the extra USBs in the laptop help you recharge your devices.. thank you for the Subscription.hope you have a great journey down to Salerno 😀

Nice mate. Question: Speed wobbles (as you mentioned). In hindsight do you think staying in B&B's is more appropriate rather than lugging all that extra camping gear?

Chris Wright camping offers flexibility that you don't get with B&B"s and hotels. we like to tour without having to make reservations, plus they tend to be in nicer spots.. and cheap!. I just need to pack smaller. Getting a tent that isn't the size of a small apartment might be a good start 😉 Thanks for the Sub to, it's really appreciated

KaiserWheelHelm Mr Kaiser, what I do: I ride till I don't feel like, then I put my 'booking app' on, see what is available around, check prices etc, and go. I try to stay for max €50 a night, so probably camping is cheaper, but my bike is lighter. Sometimes I just have a little roll bag with clothes on my GSA + tankbag, instead of the cases for a 3 week trip. And after a year of hard working, I try to make it easy for a trip. Oh I don't record so don't have to take gear etc. Another thing, I love riding alone so no hastle when looking for a hotel/ bb.

vriendelijkegroet I'm going to try alone next year. Your right though probably a mix of B&B and camping is the best option for me, I do like not having anything planned.

hi great videos if you could give me some advice , if I wanted to go from the UK to aaregg what route would i take for the scenery you have in these videos , and how would you think of this route for some one who has never ridden abroad before ? are there any legal requirements you have to carry with you when riding abroad ? thanks

Hi Kenny you need to carry a warning triangle, spare bulbs, original vehicles paperwork (not copies). check this website it has general information. www.safedrivingforlife.info/riding-abroad-0 Maybe for the first journey just do northern France such as the Normandy Beaches for a couple of days just to get a feel of it.. but If I'm honest there isn't anything to be nervous about. The Channel Tunnel is really easy to use, France has amazing roads, The Tolls on a bike the first few times are a little confusing but get easier. check out the Sanef tolling for some ideas on those. www.saneftolling.co.uk/ getting to AAREGG is just pretty much motorway miles (toll roads) all the good roads are around AAREGG, such as the Susten Pass, Grimsel Pass, Furka Pass, Oberalp Pass all are accessible from AAREGG. thats why we end up there. Switzerland has all the amazing roads. You will need to stop of in France for a night on the way down. Check the links out that i put up in this video for an idea of a place to stay. but really all we do is go to google maps and search campsites in the area you are heading, we even do this while we are travelling none of it is planned... you do not need to book anything as the campsites can generally get you in when you turn up and are really helpful. (AAREGG might be really busy in August though). we tend to go out of season to avoid all the holiday makers.. The first time (like anything) is always daunting but there is nothing to be nervous about. Make sure you have a Good mobile phone network that wont rip you off abroad especially if you use google or apple maps on your phone while traveling, also think about how you will charge your devices. Camp sites generally have electrical hook ups but you will need a specific cable to connect to it. The biggest thing to be aware of is the distance and its something we never get right. you do not want to be riding all day, pitch a tent, go to sleep, get up, ride all day, put up a tent... and so on. Make sure you have enough time to enjoy where you are. Right thats enough, I'm starting to bore myself.. Hope that helps a little.

KaiserWheelHelm thanks for such great information ,and the time taken to reply , I will definitely check out the links and websites , yes it does sound a bit daunting for the first time , and as my bike pals haven't ridden abroad before either I guess we will have fun learning , have no dates in mind specifically but we would want to avoid the busy times too.. your vids have made us wanna go even more now , and I was only checking out vids for the roadtecs as I have just had a pair fitted ..only just finished scrubbing them in but so far feel great , I came from mich pr4s but felt the front lacked feel , so far the tecs have put that problem right... thanks again for all the info , ride safe 👍

Just done Interlaken, stayed in excellent Hotel outside Chur, whizzed down to Como over Splugan back to Meiringen for two nights. Layed up by the municipal pool & chilled, weather glorious. Got mother of an electric storm leaving, need your all weather gear to keep dry! Night in Black forest then stayed at a great hotel Baden landed lucky and enjoyed music festival with live bands. another stop Belgium, then Zeebrugga ferry. Back to traffic jams and pot holes.
