@@lucacasagrande2456 The Belgian strategy isn’t to fight hard in the group stages-it doesn’t need to. I attended this game in-person (you can see me multiple times behind the Belgian net in the first half), and Belgium doesn’t want to tire and injure its key players so early if it can win with the bare minimum, otherwise we get situations like Neymar getting injured yesterday in the 2-0 game against Serbia, unable to play the next match. Lukaku, Belgium’s main striker, is also sitting out until Croatia, with Batshuayi replacing him. Despite that, Batshuayi scored and had another close attempt anyways. It’s rather clear, with Belgium being top of their group, that they will be the first to advance to 16th of finals, with any of the other three teams following behind.

As a Belgian citizen, bravo to Canada! You guys did some really impressive things and were for sure the better team. We won but not from being the better team here, we are not so sure about how things will pan out for us but we won't win playing like this. Hats off to you aye!

I'm Belgian as well and it bothers me how arrogant other Belgians are being in the comments of the Sporza channel when we barely won, Canada was the better team by miles, if we keep playing like this we won't get far...I'm more excited to see Japan play this World Cup, they really left a huge and positive impression on me from the previous WC.

@@appleseed4672 Yes, you are honest. Canada played well. But, wins are determined by goals and so Belgium won. That said, I know Belgium can play MUCH better. There are many games ahead. I expect to see the Belgium we know going forward. May the best team win!

Thx for your comment . As a Belgian I was frustrated by our inability to control midfield , which was , in particular the first half , continuously and dominantly reigned by Canada . If Belgium draws or looses , there is nothing we could argue, except your own conclusion . We have a bit more experience , and a clear chance , we won’t miss . Kudos to Canada for their attractive and bold style of play.

That was a coaching error. We have a player that has a great deal of experience taking PKs but Davies was sent. HUGE mistake but not by Davies.

Davies just obviously made an error with his foot here like what we're experiencing when kicking a ball.. it kinda slips.

Davies had a stellar game but he obviously shouldn’t have taken the PK. Not his fault of course, but the decision to grant him PK responsibilities just shows that not all star men are equipped to take them. Jonathan David would’ve been a better choice.

Canada best players at World Cup 1. Alphonso Davies- despite the miss he has been everywhere and deserved to get their first wc goal 2. Alistair Johnston- maybe not the best defender but has been real consistent this tournament 3. Kamal Miller- disaster game against Croatia but ruthless the rest of the time, especially this one 4. Tajon Buchanan- skillful winger has been really dedicated to creating chances 5. Junior Hoilett- arguably not better than Eustaquio but has made a real commitment to the attack

How? Because they were smart enough to keep Canada exhausting themselves and collecting yellow cards, muscle strain, and finally having 3 canadian players trying to catch 2 belgian attackers few meters away from from their goalkeeper when the rest of the Canadian team was so high up the front lind expecting the match to keep going the way they were comfortable with since the 1st minute? Belgian coach and players played the Canadians on a level only those with experience can, the brutal all out style Canada picked will leave them without any gas for the last game, and Croatia might end their dream in the 2nd match if the Canadian coach doesn't adapt to Men's football.
