That's a massive compliment coming from Aloy herself, haha. But seriously, thank you. Forbidden West is no joke and I'm still finding myself challenged every time I pick up the controller to record. It's low-key humbling.

As an FYI, the difficulty will be "Very Hard damage to Aloy" and "Hard machine health". I've never been a fan of spongy enemies and I feel this is best for my playstyle. Enjoy!

@@PSYFIGHTER_ spongy just means it takes ages to kill them, it literally becomes a battle of time where your spamming arrows till it dies. Makes it pretty boring

@@PSYFIGHTER_ idk what you're talking about but enemies are extremely spongy for me in HFW even on Normal difficulty. Sure, there are weak spots but they're really small or hidden behind shit loads of armour which makes them spongy cause you have to keep spamming arrows till the armour is removed. In Zero Dawn the weak spots for machine were exposed alot more than HFW. They were bigger and weren't hidden behind too much armour. So if your aim was good, you can dominate that game. I love HFW's combat but enemies are a little too spongy for me.

@@TheGlintJaw look in games like borderlands or destiny you shoot thousands of bullets at enemies. This is spongy. But in horizon you shoot arrows at high tech metal machines. They have to be strong. I wouldnt call this spongy

One day for sure!

Two things: I didn’t know custom difficulty was a thing. Does this mean you can make the game harder than Very Hard? Second, I found the slaughterspine to be a little less of a challenge compared to the apex thunderjaw and tremor tusk, but it could also be that I was a bit underleveled when I fought both.

1) Sort of. You can alter machine health and damage to Aloy, but those are both maxed out at VH. You can also adjust the HUD settings (no crosshairs, no health bar) for added difficulty, but again, damage and health are maxed out. 2) Haven't fought an Apex Tremortusk yet, but I haven't had too much trouble with the ordinary varieties. It's the Shellsnapper that usually kicks my ass and I hope I never find an Apex.

What a great game! What a great fight on your part. The slaughterspine had so many more discreet and detachable parts than the HZD thunderjaw for example. This adds to the challenge of combat because you can't disarm it nearly as fast. I was going to wait for the PC port, but I broke down and bought a ps4 copy last week. I kept thinking about watching you play. I'm slowly working through the story and once I have some late game footage I'll be posting some of my own videos again.

@@incysor1910 Shellsnapper kicks my ass 9/10. It's a monster. The Rollerbacks are incredibly unique and probably my true favorite, even if they're not predators like the others. The Tideripper's purgewater jets annoy the hell out of me, but the overall design is wicked clever!

Nah, I never even think about grabbing the weapons. Too slow even with upgrades and this time around, I feel Aloy really needs the mobility. Yeah, big fan of the combat, even if I struggled big time with it in the beginning.

@@aloyversus409 when they are gunked up with the mobility gunk heavy weapons are super effective since the movement goes way down, but I understand each player having they're own way to play. I actually use knockdown arrows and knockdown abilities after tearing weapons off. You knocked them down and then use heavy weapons with concentration to unload before they wake up. Even more damage if you use heavy weapons armor. But that's the great thing about the game, there are so many ways to play that you can form allá sort Of strategies

Oh, they're tough as hell, although I feel a few of their attacks are broken. It's nearly impossible to dodge that leaping tail stomp and their plasma beam's hitbox feels really off. I've rolled way too early sometimes and still been okay; other times, it'll hit me out of nowhere. Still, they're awesome to look at. Just from a long way away, lol.

The Horizon King is back yay!! But to realize that you're playing in hard difficulty.. It really does make me questioned my choice of playing this in very hard difficulty lol.. Aha.. ahah haaaa . . . Oh well might just go for it, and damn my resources really does drained faster in HFW compared to the previous HZD.

Spot on! I stopped playing VH because my resources were draining like crazy and it just wasn't fun anymore. I don't plan on playing Very Hard enemy health for the channel. I know for a fact you and others can and will, but it's hell trying to record videos even on Hard. Very Hard damage to Aloy is a different story, tho.

@@aloyversus409 Yeah I should consider that you're playing while recording as well. That's a big burden to play on VH. But I really felt glad with the difficulty level. With machines this hard and tanky, I can get over-leveled as much as I want and never to worry about the game's get less challenging.

Aaaahhhhhhh i have to say you greatly influenced my play style in zero dawn but i find the controls in forbidden west more difficult because i don't have unlimited dodge anymore xD i'm glad this just proves I suck and that you're an incredible player hahaha my hubris made me play on Very Hard and it is... very hard 😭 I'm curious to see you go for the Arena. I got stuck at the first boss fight there and had to change the difficulty down to Normal just to get my Platinum.

Well, the is game is overall much more difficult. More often than not, I'm still getting my butt kicked, even when I turned it down to Normal to get thru the story. >. The Arena was such a disappointment. I was hoping we'd get to pick our own machine fights, not compete against a clock and some random machines. I cheesed my way thru just for the goodies at the end, but I'll probably return to record videos, although I'll be absolutely ignoring the clock.

@@aloyversus409 arena ain't that hard on the pre loaded set ups at the end of each rank, you just have to plan ahead before jumping down. And actually believe it or not the first one against the Slitherfang was the toughest one for me.

How do you be able to have one on one matches with these apex variants? Every time I start to fight them neighboring machines comes to join and when I take them out more comes before and after the match is even done

Yeah, I find it annoying they decided to bunch some of the heavyweight machines with lesser ones. There's a Shellsnapper site with at least 5 Spikesnouts that's nearly impossible to handle. My advice is to take out the lesser/neighboring machines first. The Apex/heavyweight machine absolutely needs your full attention, so keep it in your FoV, but concentrate on taking out the "henchmen" first.

I was wondering why I never see videos from you anymore. I didn't realize you haven't uploaded in almost a year.. I won't lie it makes me sad. I'd love to see more videos even if it wasn't videos of Horizon. I would love to see you do a play through of God of War 4 and GOW Ragnarok or another cool game I'd love to see you play is Control before Conteol 2 comes out. That game is a blast to watch/play. I can't wait for the 2nd one it looks like it's going to blow the 1st out of the water in every way.

How you finding the new weapons brother?

Surprisingly enough, I find these easier than the Tremortusk lol. I thought the Tremortusk would be easy to kill due to their slow movement but oh well....

Interesting! I actually find the Tremortusk to be a bit of a pushover because of its slow movement. It sort of just spams AoE/ long range attacks. It's the aggressive machines like the Slaughterspine and Thunderjaw (both mixes!) and Clawstrider that took some adjusting to because of Aloy's new movement system.

Good find! Also for spoilers, Is that the site with two specific massive machines? If so, I've already got it marked! It's going to be insane! I couldn't believe it was (IIRC) marked as a level 18 mission. That's at least endgame difficulty.

It's been a blast so far. I have a few gripes involving resource management and the story, but the machine designs, both new and old, are absolutely fantastic. Photo Mode is really impressive, too. I've lost almost as many hours taking photos of Aloy and the West as beating down machines, lol.

Yup! They're great options. Same for Easy Loot when you're grinding.

It has been 600 days since I've finished my ultra Hard HZD run, an attempt which was inspired by you after seeing you take down that Thunderjaw. I'm now rocking my way through Forbidden West and getting my teeth kicked in. Came here to see how it's done. How did you take to the new combat system at first? I feel like most of the weapons aren't very well balanced in terms of handling, but maybe that's just Guerrilla Games' way of pushing the RPG mechanics. I dunno.

Hmm doesn't feel scarier than the thunderjaw. What do you think? Easier?

A few of its attacks are borderline, annoyingly "undodgeable" (it's Shin Godzilla beam and it's leaping tail stomp), but I'd say it is tougher overall. You really can't roll-slide underneath when it charges like a Tjaw because of its snout (I got lucky here, creamed so many times before) and it's plasma weapons turn the area into a minefield. Also has fewer weak spots unlike the Tjaw, which is a walking bullseye.

Btw how do you upgrade the weapon stamina bar?

Some armors will boost the stamina bar. I want to say there's some tiers in the Skill Trees as well, but I'm not 100%.
