Pure talent, the car handling isn't soo bad, engine power is so damn low. Incredible how Alonso still fight with all his strenght in this difficult moment for him. We saw his aggressive drive to defend one point to Ocon and Hulkenberg at the final stages to the Gp. Hopefully he'll find a solution to a bright future

I kind of hated Alonso because for many years he was questioning M. Schumacher's dominance (succesfully) ,and I was and still am a huge fan of MC, but I got to say man: He is one of the greatest in F1 history. Very talented and capable. I might have to put my feelings aside and admit he is probably the best on the grid right now...

They would be in a better position if they did yes but they would struggle to beat the works mercedes team with a mercedes engine which was one of the reasons they switched to honda in the first place.

In my view, that is an anomaly. Renault doesn't have a competitive chassis department whereas Mercedes does so Mercedes can optimise their chassis perfectly to suit the engine whereas Mclaren don't have that advantage. Furthermore Mclaren are probably 4th best in the Aero department, quite far behind the top 3.

Without DRS he cant get to 8th gear... hopefully Honda can improve over the season.

You're absolutely right, the brake ducts go up and down. In fact the whole hub assembly "bends" forward under front suspension compression. It's not the front wing moving.

Yup! You’re seeing the entire wheel hub assembly - to which the brake ducts are attached - flex about the axis of wheel rotation. This is a result of the torque generated by brake application. Amazing!

if i remember right the Honda engine was using a different style of turbine in the turbo. not sure if they still are. might be something to do with it. could also be the mgu that's on the turbo

Alonso wasting his talent on bad cars is only himself to blame at. Ever since Ferrari (inclusive), he has shown to have not such good eyes to choose teams. In the end Alonso declined Mercedes´ offer simply because of his contract with McLaren, and Wolf knows it only well. Still, this issue on Fernando´s chances to sign for Mercedes is a more complex topic than it seems at first, because ever since Rosberg´s retirement, has Wolf been flirting with Alonso to get his seat, and in fact Botta´s contract is for one year only (as far as I know, and while I´m not wrong) because Totto is still thinking of Alonso. And as I see it, it´s rather rude to take "a random driver" like Bottas as "stuffing" while waiting for the driver that Wolf really wants. Speaking of Wolf, he made some statements that I find contradictory: first he admitted contacts with Fernando to try and get him; then he (Wolf) criticized him saying that Alonso was not as a good choice as Wehrlein because Alonso left some scars in the team (probably referring to the spy case of McLaren-Mercedes to Ferrari in 2007). But still, Wolf seems interested on Alonso. On his part, should keep loyal to his team and contract and don´t even bother to contact Mercedes (no matter how deplorable the Honda engine has always been). It was his own decision to join this project, so better if he kept constant with his decisions; even more if we remember one of his key-statements (back in the 2015 pre-season): "I don´t know if it´ll take me 3 or 5 years, but to become champion again, it has to be in McLaren-Honda". Well, his 3-year coupon is under great threat, and in most likelihood will end up in nothing; just as his 2010 pre-season promise ("in most likelihood will my F1 career end up in Ferrari"). And unless Honda makes such a surprise improvement in 2019 (the way they did in the Australian GP- I expected both McLaren cars retiring on the first laps), Fernando´s coupon for the 5 year period is under threat as well. If Fernando is still in McLaren in 2019, which takes me to the next and last point. Some Alonso-fans dare to say now that Fenando should change team and move to Mercedes, Red Bull or Williams. Again!??? Yet another team-change?? Hasn´t he had enough with playing "snakes and ladders" with teams over the last 10 years? I´d really enjoy it if Fernando moved to Mercedes and the team sunk the way McLaren did for whatever problem you want (bad engine again, bad car design or whatever) and then fans (and even the press and mass media) kept on saying that Fernando should change team again... It´d be funny for real. But in general, I don´t care the least what does Fernando do from now on. He has already made a fool of himself, and instead of retiring after leaving Ferrari, he´s come to the average age of retirement of F1 champions (35-40 years) while increasing his personal record as the F1 champion racing for the most years after his last world title; a record to feel more shame than nostalgia for, I think. He still has the chance to increase his record a bit, but I seriously doubt that any other driver is interested on beating it. Again, Fernando knows only well how to waste his time in vain picking the wrong team at the wrong moment...

Theoretically this engine should be competitive but Honda keeps using some experimental fuel injection bullshit that in my uneducated opinion was supposed to improve on the previous engine. Instead its shaking the engine apart. Honda should just just concentrate on improving their now conventional turbine design as well as the MGU-h. Thats how you boost power and efficiency on the straights.

It actually looks quite slow in the turns compared to the Mercedes. Maybe it lacks downforce, or maybe it has to run low downforce compared to the Merc because of a lack of power.. idk, when you look at the situation from a financial standpoint it's hard to see how they're gonna be able to part ways with honda

Every chassis is good as long as it coasts 20 kph slower than the others. We could see its potential only with a decent engine.

+Enzo YOU FUCKING IDIOT!!! The 2017 chassis was brilliant because they were very competitive in Monaco and Singapore, even more so than the other midfielders in Malaysia and Hungary. Vandoorne scored a 7th place and Alonso a 6th place. Only the 2018 chassis sucked. DUMBASS!!! Also, the competition improved more!!! Don't compare these years! Their Renault engine helped them even, because Toro Rosso failed even harder with that crappy Honda engine and McLaren still got a nice 6th place, same as in 2016. RedBull will fail too, just watch.

+Lewgenious17 McLaren can improve, i'm sure they'll be competitive again, Renault will improve their power unit which also will help McLaren, Alonso is gone so the team will go forwards, and Sainz is brilliant. Now RedBull has that shitty Honda engine and will be overtaken by Renault as well as Haas. Because Toro Rosso dropped from 6th to 9th last season. Ferrari however will make the best power unit ever and finally beat Mercedes. Williams will beat Toro Rosso for 9th place, Force India might get close to RedBull.

This is a very good lap but I have to say that Hamilton and Vettel are in an other level in terms of qualyfing laps

With a lap like that he would even put a Toro Rosso on pole...Alonso is a magican with the worst car on the grid.
