Once a promising young chef, now an unmotivated twenty-something, Charlie (Freddie Highmore, “Bates Motel”) is living at home with his mother (Marg Helgenberger, “CSI”) and stepfather while working as an assistant manager at a movie theatre and living vicariously through his best friend, Ben (Hayley Joel Osment, “Silicon Valley”). But his life takes an unpredictable turn when he finds himself falling for local barista Amber (Odeya Rush, The Giver). Problem is, Amber has her own distractions - her mooching cousin/roommate (Jake Abel, Love & Mercy), a track-star boyfriend (Taylor John Smith, Wolves) and steadfast plans to move to New York City. On top of that, Charlie's estranged father (Christopher Meloni, “Law & Order: SVU”) unexpectedly re-enters his life just as he begins to take a long, hard look at where he's going and who he wants to be. With problem after problem piling on, when will Charlie reach a tipping point and finally find the path forward?

Freddie is one of the best actors around...i really enjoyed watching him in the series "The Good Doctor."
I fell in love with Freddie the first time i watched Agust Rush,,he's an incredible actor who brings out every emotion in me with his acting ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Nice story, well portrayed. It´s not any sort of typical relationship but rather one of those meaningful encounters you have in life with a person you don´t necessarily know well but still have a true connection with. They allow you to share thoughts you´ve had but never uttered, they are unbiased and able to listen, and both sides are open and comfortable with each other. There is something very pure and honest about that. I have been lucky to have such encounters in my life and to connect to someone on a soul-searching kind of level where both sides are simply being human.
People seem to hate Freddie because of The Good Doctor, but for me he's a great actor for that
The good doctor is here again. I enjoy this guy
Freddie's acting is top notch! The maturity of Heather and Jack is most beautiful . Am glad I finished the movie❤️
Freddie is so good. He is brilliant in all the roles I have seen him in. Be it Bates Motel, Good Hotel or just his interviews! Very intelligent guy.

I love this film for its subtile observation of human psychology. I love this film because it's a positive vision. I love it for the excellent casting Freddie Highmore is amazing. I recommend to see this film as a refreshing moment of good cinema
I really like the leading actor...he has a unique personality..all the movies and series I've watched of him just incredible

A much more sophisticated movie than I expected. Good solid casting *****. Made me wish I had gone to Paris when I was eighteen. It stirred an old ache of long ago.

I liked this movie. Just really wanted to see them stay together. It was a cool thing what they had. And the way the looked at each other. How could anyone not fight for that bond they had. 😢

I think that she is going to start college at NYU? And he is going to be an assistant chef in New York. So I think it is implied that they are going to meet again in NY. I agree it would have been nice to see that, but then it felt like a nice ending too.
I loved Freddie from the first time I saw him on August Rush. He's just an amazing actor. So fortunate to be alive during an era of such incredible actors ❤❤❤🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦

This movie was a good surprise, very real and Freddie is one outstanding actor, he's style is something. First movie I see with him was "august rush" and "Bates motel" serie then "Good doctor" he have one special character.👍🏻💯

Many ppl over here are talking about Freddie Highmore, which is cool , but no one is talking about Haley Joel Osment ? He used to be a VERY successful child actor . He played in 6th sense , Steven Spielberg’s : A.I ‘ movie , appeared in Forest Gump etc . I know he fell off afterwards dealing with dui, drugs and stuff…and I know he’s like 7 minutes in the movie , but I am glad that he’s not one of those child actors who completely ruined their life and is finding acting jobs again . Good for him :) . Also nice movie 🍿SPOILER : I am glad that Charlie and Amber didn’t end up together. It makes things more realistic and morally appropriate.

A great coming of age story--for three very different characters. Open-ended, but positive. (Life is not a movie.) And I love that little kid! Makes me want to go buy a water pistol.
Odeya reminds me so much of Mila Kunis. Good movie.

Realistically boring. It was as if it was real life instead of a movie which is why I absolutely loved it. However I just can't seem to wrap my mind around how imperfectly and flawless Charlie was throughout the whole movie. Had that been me I would have bashed my father's head in with a baseball bat LOL I sure wish I could be like Charlie. I absolutely love to Charlie's whole demeanor and everything about Charlie like I said he was just flawless. I would most definitely recommend everyone of all ages to watch this movie 🏆🏆💖

Really enjoyed this movie, thank you. A confession, I thought Amber was using Charlie to pin the pregnancy on him but I was way off. Great cast of characters and actors, I didn't think there was any hope for Jack but it goes to show how the right woman can balance a man.

I believe any relationship you're in. Put your heart in it and make it work. Cause you might be out there saying I already have him / her; not putting in any effort at all and end up messing it up. Therefore putting the guy / lady on a cross road there they have to hurt you and hurt themselves. Give it all you got fr. And pay attention to details. These things are really funny

Nothing is as it seems to be...that is what the movie all about and ..."life is complicated".Yes, it is.
Killing a man's kid without even telling him...that was despicable. The thief father had more integrity than her. Legal or not, nobody has the moral right to make that decision on their own. This movie left me completely disgusted with the ethical decay of humanity. Charlie is lucky to have escaped.
Charlie obviously fancied Amber a lot the way he kissed and held her so passionately. Though she did kiss him first.
