I always feel a little relief when I get those first scratches out of the way. I can finally stop worrying about it so much.

As a motorcycle mechanic, I was moving a customers beautiful 08 ish Gold Wing one day, there was a tiny bit of sand on the top of the concrete in the shops storage area. I was taking my time but as soon as I slipped on that sand, I knew I was going to lose that bike. I set her down ever so gently with all my strength and got so lucky to not even leave a scratch on the crash cage that saved me. Shit happens man. Glad it wasnt too bad.

Ouch ... absolutely gutting is the feeling Dan . Almost dropped me Bandit a few days after buying it I was on the wrong side as the side stand went up .. hung on for dear life as it would have gone down hard against a tool bench. Soo glad it's only minimal damage . Looking forwards to your friends videos when she gets some time , it great to see someone else doing the work with as much passion as you . Need to go look in the library for the kart videos not seen you work on one for ages . Cheers as always for a brekkie vid .

Oh man, I know what that feels like, Dan. I had my Ducati about 3 months and found myself in a ditch unable to steady myself at slow speed and down we went. Had to get new body work on the complete left side. Not cheap. Looking forward to ALL you have planned. I like polished aluminum/aluminium btw. 🏍👍🏍

I can imagine that would’ve been cheap at all, unfortunately it does happen to a lot of people you’ve just gotta pick it up and hope for the best. Thanks for sharing mate, Yeah I’ve definitely got a lot of work ahead of me lol

Sorry to hear the CB went down Dan, glad it only minimal damage mate. I think we have all done the same thing at some point . I built a GSXR1100 from boxes of parts just finished it and had not started the rebuilt motor left it sitting on a race stand, went in the house for a drink and heard a crash! I think the cat next door jumped from the fence, landed on my bike and down it went. But that's life. Ride safe mate. Cheers

Glad the damage wasn't too serious. It's such a beautiful build and has definitely been some inspiration for my build.

Sorry to hear about the CB750. Glad it wasn't too bad. Looking forward to the upcoming videos. Someday I'd like to see your take on making side covers for the triangle. Not the most common cafe look, but they look sharp if done well. Cheers!!

Oh that hurts still. About the bezzel for the speedo, the aluminium color just gives it a nice edge to the whole of the bike. Great work as always 👏👏👏

Hi Dan, good to see you are nearly there. That was bad luck and I can imagine your mood after that. I droop the side stand on my F650 Funduro, nothing to do with you lovely 750, the stand was half way when I released the weight and that was it , no way I could stop it to go down. Not very happy , not because of the bike, because I have what I call my double ""chicken mesh"" from groin hernia opp lol , take it easy, Looking forward for those videos. Thanks, Gus

you poor guy, I totally understand where you’re coming from, When they go they go and you can’t really stop them falling. There’s always a lesson to be learnt though 👍

Oh yes, i had that with my cx500. It just tipped over away from me so i couldn’t catch it. Same kind of slope. I was very angry but in the end only the bar end mirror was seriously damaged.

Really glad to see that the CB has minimal damage. Yup, I've done it before. On my first bike, 1982 Kawasaki GPZ1100, Eddie Lawson replica. I was riding into my dad's garage and riding sideways on a slight incline that was barely wet. The front tire slipped and over it went, veerrrrrryyyyy sloowwww. Lol. Luckily it was on grass and no damage at all, besides my pride when my dad laughed at me. LOL - Nate

Oh that’s terrible but it does happen unfortunately and I think sometimes our egos and pride get more damage than the bike. Lol 😂

That Virago starter is a pain. We got one in from a customer. Starter sounded like a can of rocks mixed with grinding. Lol. We flipped the gear (forgot what it's called) and now it works great. It's a quick fix just to get it started. It will most likely need replaced once we really get into the build.

Yeah I think that’s what the guy did before I bought it, that is definitely a quick fix and I have something a little bit more permanent planned :)

Those pebble driveways in the rain are like ice..bit of water and some slick shoes and it turns into a winter Olympics down hill run.The engine fin damage seems like the worst..but it's not the end of the world

Hi Dan! I noticed you used a rear tire on the front of the bike as well. I was wondering what your experience is with that thus far. Did you reverse the tire's rolling direction to compensate for the braking force of a front tire application instead of the acceleration force of a rear tire application?

I like the machined 94 clean aluminum look on the gauge mount. Maybe try rubbing it down with some aluminum mag polish to spiff it up a little more and protect it from oxidizing.

Yes I was extremely grateful that the damage is minimal, I think I’m gonna take it for a a few rides before I fix everything otherwise it’s gonna be even longer before I get to ride it properly

Luckyunlucky! Dont feel bad about yourself it's gravity😉 Had this two with two of my heavier bikes a '95 CB1000F and my current MT-01. Once the lean of the bikes became to much I had to let them go in slowmo. It happened on "big" gravel. There was some worse damage on both, your realy lucky with those few scratches👍 you'll get it fixed.

Thank you for making me feel a bit better, I definitely understand what you’re saying and feel your pain, I think I’m gonna take this bike out for a ride and then come back and fix those small things just so that I can get a chance to actually ride the bike Sooner rather than later

It's not ment for cleaning or putting it in a museum (even though your bikes would deserve it) my bikes are always protected by dirt at the end😋 that's why I love fake patina and the used look, additional scratches just add more style🤣 I'll imitate some of your styles but will add a slopy finish😉👍

It happens mate, u almost finished a custom build on a xjr1300 and didn't have the side stand down fully whilst taking it off a poddock stand, in slow motion it rocked forward and fell onto my workbench. I too was amazed at how little damage and I luckily avoided a fresh painted tank.. Shit happens every now and again...

You probably answered this question but what gas tank did you put on your CB750? I have a CB550four and I was wondering if it would fit or would i have to custom fit it.

I dropped my new Triumph Trident 660 when taking it of the rear bike stand, broke the clutch handle and had really bad scuffs on the luckily engine and frame protectors. Two years ago dropped one of my Yamaha FZR 1000 Exup collection bikes and it fell against a moveable work scaffolding whereby the cowling and screen where scuffed. Did not want to repair it so I put a sticker over it of Vlaanderen (Flemish part of Belgium). So yes it will happen.

Had my bike fall over in almost the exact same way. Took mine to a self-serve car wash, got my air filters too wet so it wouldn’t start, and I had to push it out of the wash bay. Foot slipped on the soapy ground. Was so upset and so embarrassed. Thankfully though didn’t do a lot of damage.

once i dropped my sohc cb750 at 3:30 am, leaving for work.... gas spilling everywhere, im juust barely strong enough to even pick it back up. it was a nightmare 😭

cmsnl is a great site BUT if you live in North America the shipping is impossibly insane. They REALLY need to open a warehouse in the US cause the sales would triple or more.

I have watched your videos and they are great, they are very informative. My only problem is I have watched every one of them now and sometimes some of them twice. You are a brave man Dan! I will follow your XV build to see how you will fix that ugly duck and make it into a swan. (Yes yes, I'm from Denmark!) Many have tried, few have succeded. A rare bike for you to have in mind (don't know if they even exists in Australia) is a danish bike called Nimbus. 750cc straight 4 with shaft drive. Yes, the engine is from front to back. They stopped making them in the 50ies. Good luck!

CB750F, definitely on the heavy side, not a bike to move alone on any slopes. Wear good grippy shoes, lean it more towards your body while handling.

Sorry that the bike fell over , it really sucks , been there fairly recently myself , but it is just going to make ourselves that much more careful to the point where we will never let this happen again , if at all possible, I was in a bad fender bender over 20 years ago and remembered how I swore that I would be way more careful with motorcycles , after I hit a water meter and it made the end of the handle bar punch 🥊 me so hard just below the ribs and I damn near passed out ,but the little tear right around the ribs that was starting to bleed out and me sitting there for 10 min. In a daze like I just got punched by mike Tyson in his prime bare handed 🤜 i thought I was going to die , anyway damage is minimal and possibly took the least amount of damage it could of taking , you will take care of these issues one by one ☝️ first , would love content on how you resolved it , take care and thx 🙏 for sharing

Where are you have an incredible story to tell after all that, things could’ve been terribly worse so you’ve gotta be grateful that they weren’t and you get to tell the story over and over:) My bike is okay and I’m just going to work through things and get them fixed, I will probably ride the bike first and then eventually get all these little small things sorted between working on another bike

carpet or rubber matts would have saved it as well, put padding under the carpet, better to work on as well.. stop nuts from rolling sooner off too ... lol
