In today's video I'm joined by my good friend Steve as we take our second trip to meet Maurice Flanagan, proprietor of the incredible AllYouNeedIsBooks vintage paperback business, previously known as Zardoz Books.
Maurice has been collecting and dealing in vintage paperbacks and books for decades. In that time he's also retailed books, introduced and organised the very first UK based paperback shows, published numerous magazines and some books and become a legend of the paperback community.
I get to have a good look around the warehouse, take plenty of time to film the shelves, then, once I'm back home, unpack and give my book haul a clean and tidy.
Some fantastic finds were had, including lots of Agatha Christie, rare Penguin crime titles, POW escape books, Panther, Four Square, Panther Crime Bands, Digit Books. It was pretty EPIC!

Yes we've been doing this for 30 years now - over years bought collections of Flemings etc and many others, thats why we have so many printings of individual titles. And as Jules says quite a number are not on the internet - so I was interested that Jules and Steve dug out a number of those. In the old days Belgium and Holland (especially Amsterdam) were great places to pick up British and US vintage - especially Pan, Penguin, Digit, Four Square etc

Ah, the good old days. Thanks again for having us Maurice, I'm still recovering but there's lots more to go through. I hope your website has been very busy on the back of mine and Steve's videos🙂 There's simply nowhere else in the UK with so many vintage paperbacks under one roof.

If you bend the cover back a little to make room between the plastic cover and the book cover, you could use scissors to cut the plastic cover in two. Then both halves should slip off.

I razor then off in the end, much easier!

Watching this and pausing and pausing ( to read some titles 😁 ) . On 26th Dec . Love these tours , vists and hauls . I would have had trouble keeping calm among all thoses treasures . I could see myself 'camping out ' there for hours . Alas the damage to my wallet .😂🤣 . Thank you gents . Ps Hope you and all fellow subbers had a great christmas , with lots and lots of good finds and reads .

There is an easier way to get the books out of the plastic cases without damaging them, a pair of scissors. I assume that you are not bothered about reusing the plastic covers, cut them off and put them in the recycling.

I start using a razor come the end! They were on pretty tight tbh👍🙂
I collect vintage classics too! ( Currently in university studying languages so looking for vintage classics in french is my favourite) and I love this video! its so interesting to see the ones you've picked up and the variation of covers! Very cool

those plastic jackets were what kept those books in good condition all these years.

I wonder how long they have been on the books? It seems from that collection, the best condition books got covered.
