VINTAGE Book + PAPERBACK Pickups - May 2024 - Fantastic Penguin, Virago + Picador - ASMR, Maybe!
In this video I take a look through my pickups of vintage paperbacks that came my way in May 2024. Book shop goodies, books from the Penguin Chap, Jack Ryder Books plus my local bookshop, + some eBay purchases. A great month!
These all needed cleaning and making good. It took awhile but the results were great and these will make a worthy additions to my collection.

There are two books by Leonora Carrington published by Virago Modern Classics that are certainly collectible. In fact any vintage Leonora Carrington paperbacks are worth picking up. I was fascinated to see you collecting those green VMCs because I do like them myself and I personally think they're more interesting than the white spine Picadors.

@@JulesBurt strange as values range wildly from very little up to £40 franked and even £80 mint unused - can be a few quid or 10x that

Lighter fuel removes most stickers.

Strike a match and it'll remove most books too! But, in all seriousness, that might be something I'll try.

@@JulesBurt Drop a few drips of lighter fuel onto the sticker and wait until it goes opaique (grey) and then peel it off slowly. Then wipe off the glue. There are times, though, when I would leave the sticker alone. T & P (Thorpe and Porter) stamps, for instance..
