    So sorry to hear this. Studies have shown that only 20% of OB-GYNs in the U.S. feel adequately trained to guide their patients through menopause, and only 6% of women seeking treatment for menopause are actually getting it! This is exactly why we started Alloy.

    Lots of great information! Just a little disappointed that you didn’t talk about bioidentical hormones. I am much more comfortable with the idea of using a product that is identical molecularly to what my body makes naturally. I use bioidentical estriol cream (which is the weakest form of natural estrogen) on my vaginal area and have had great success in improving the condition of the tissues. I am hoping to go on a systemic bioidentical estradiol topical for improving bone loss soon.

    Thank you! Noted, that could be a great topic for a future webinar! At Alloy, a priority is that the hormones in our products are bioidentical - meaning that they are molecularly identical to the hormones our bodies naturally produce. These hormones tend to be made from plant-based forms - ours are made from yams!😊

    There was dementia on both sides of my family. I went on hormone replacement in my 50's thinking it would give me protection and the clinic where I went gave me vaginal estrogen and no systemic estrogen. The clinic had been informed as to my concerns and that I also had osteoarthritis. I am now 71 years old and just found out by listening to Dr.Casperson that my brain has not been receiving any estrogen and nor have my joints. Is it too late for me to start on a patch and if it is not too late then is the patch preferable over a pill? I have not had any blood clots and if there is no sound research that can link cancer with hormone replacement (cancer on both sides of family) then could it be something that might still benefit me? I would like to confront them but would like more knowledge before doing so.

    Question - I have heard from other Doctors that taking estrogen increases fibroid growth. Is that true for vaginal estrogen?

  • @myalloy

    @myalloy

    Hi! In menopause, the use of menopausal hormone therapy does not cause fibroids to enlarge, appear or regrow. A history of fibroids prior to menopause is not a contraindication to hormone therapy.

    Hi, great question! At Alloy, we treat based on symptoms. The latest guidelines from The Menopause Society and American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) do not recommend blood work or hormone testing because every woman's "optimal" level is different, and your hormone levels can fluctuate so drastically day to day (actually even hour to hour).
