Unanswered questions:
Best poo story:
My favourite van life poo story I heard was from some people we met on the road. They had a smaller porta potti than us, so in an effort to prolong the length they could go without emptying it, they would only wee in it, and for a number two they would put a bag over it and do their deed in there. One day they found they were all out of dog poo bags and so had to use what ever was lying around. It just so happened that the only bag they could find was a Chanel shopping bag they had recently got when buying perfume. They used the bag and filled it with their human waste. They left the now filled bag by the door while they got ready to find a bin to dispose of their dirty business. While getting ready, a lady passed the van and spotted her opportunity to steal what she assumed was a Chanel bag full of expensive goods, and so made off with a bag full of poo. HAHAHAHAHA I just love to think of the time she opened the bag. Instant Karma.
How do you drink that much Guinness?:
A lot of practice.
Has Isabel always had a penchant for putting her words and sentences to dance?:
Yeah, she is a freak, haha.
Do you ever plan to return to teaching?:
Hopefully not. I love educating, I would love to teach again, but probably not in a school setting.
Will you make a summary video of your Ireland trip?:
If we have time, editing a video a week has been keeping us well occupied. It is something we would like to do, thanks for the idea. It just depends how busy we are.

Being from Ireland, you show our country in such a beautiful way (even in the depths of winter). Love what you both do and hope it all works out for you! Really liked the suggestion of just slowing down when travelling! That’s when you find the gems

This is so nice to hear. Im glad that Irish people feel we are doing it justice. I have never been in summer but I feel Ireland is more genuine in winter, the wild coast, the empty beaches and everyone you meet is local. We will have to come back in summer and see it in the sun

  • @Dreyno

    @Dreyno

@@LostInTransit To be honest, a lot of the Wild Atlantic Way will be almost as quiet in summer. Apart from a few hotspots like Clifden, Westport and Strandhill, anywhere north of Clare will be fairly quiet. It’s never been as marketed so you can genuinely have entire beaches to yourself on a nice summer day. The population of Ireland is so much lower than the U.K. that you don’t get many places that choke on traffic like the Lake District. Kerry is probably the busiest place. It is nice in winter but there’s nothing like being along the west coast on a warm summer evening. Like a different country when the weather is nice.

April 30, 2023: That underground is so very interesting with the waterfall at the one opening. Oh, when you looked down! Yikes. Unbelievable also the beauty in nature. The next opening as you looked up was breathtaking. Tom is drinking what is very clear water. Water that rushes so rapidly over rocks and is clear is considered okay. I went to Lourdes France and every day we filled our water containers with water from the mountain. They had spigots in them (The Grotto at Lourdes where St Bernadette saw the Blessed Mother). The water was always cool and our kitchen staff on the grounds there used this water for our coffee and tea. Again, you two bring such informative and spectacular videos. Continue your journey knowing for many we may never get there but through your travels, we can.

@@LostInTransit Did you guys already go to Wales during the trip before crossing over to Ireland (so even before Scotland I think)? I saw videos around Wales by other Van Life KZreadrs and it seemed really lovely around there as well. I have been watching bits of travels in Ireland for quite a while. I listen to Irish folk and country music and love it. I even learnt the Irish language on Duolingo for a few months, over two years ago now; though I can hardly remember anything. So it's really really awesome to see around all the lovely places even though I have never been to Ireland myself. Thanks a lot to you guys!

Congratulations on your 10k. I'm just home (Tralee) from a fabulous walk on Eagle Mountain ( near Slea Head about 15 mins from Dingle). I should have been on the lookout for your van ! You have to go out to Slea Head and also have a walk down to the pier at Dun Chaoin plus have a pint in the pub opposite the church in Dingle - Dick Macks. You might get a boat trip out to the Great Blasket where there are 100's of seals if the weather is good.

Congratulations guys! Fingers crossed you can join us in Lofoten in June/July 😉 I would say Croatia isn't a great place to go to because you get big fines for wild camping, we had the police wake us up in the morning and took our passport details so we used camping sites after that which was expensive. However Montenegro, Bosnia and Albania are very cheap, jaw dropingly beautiful and also outside the Schengen area which of course is important in the balls up that is Brexit. You can stay there to avoid racking up your 90 days in 180 visa limit which you will be using while in Greece and most of the rest of Europe including Norway. Also Albanian food is like Greek but cheaper. Good luck!

I can vouch for the stress in a PGCE. I did 2ndry science 14 years ago and it nearly broke me...

We both did secondary science PGCEs, was crazy. So much is expected of teachers, they have our full respect.

Great Q&A - honest (perhaps too honest with the photos of Izzy's allergies lol) ....nice visual framing/backdrop ...sound is very low though. Time to invest in some bluetooth clip mics? I have a feeling your channel will blow up soon...so getting the sound as good as the visuals will help prepare you for your inevitable YT fame 👍🏻

Maybe for another Q&A, but how has Brexit affected travelling in Europe? There is a 90/180 day rule in effect now from British citizens travelling through the Schengen area, so has this had an impact on how you travel?

I have enjoyed watching your travels in Ireland. I wanted to ask about camping over night in random places like car parks and on the road side. Is this allowed or did you just do it?

HI Clarke - Thank you for watching our travels - we wouldnt park overnight somewhere that says no camping or no overnight parking - we haven't had any issues parking and camping where we do - but bear in mind we are traveling in the low season :)
