hopefully they have it figured out. the Polaris 800 twins have proven how brand loyal people can be. haven't had a good 800 since the ves triple. there was an engine that could make 180+ on the trail all day, get good mileage and run to 10k miles easily and had such a linear power band.hopefully it works out and actually is reliable and bullet proof!

@@oldslow3694 the ultra and the xcr 600 the first year had a seal in there. But any slides that's it have the potential problem with crank seals getting dry The biggest problem with them old sleds was we were able to get so much horsepower over what we bought them with. You buy a 95 horsepower XLT and with some help the aftermarket you added 20 25% horsepower. With the 800 xcr they came stock at 155 horsepower and with some help with the aftermarket your trail riding 180 190 horsepower. Then you had the average Joe build this horsepower and never pull a spark plug to check it and before you know it you had Pistons being smoked.

So you must like replacing crank shafts and the stupid sealed bearings every other year? You see more people bitching about melted pistons and bad cranks on any doo talk thread. Not so with Polaris. I been a diehard doo fan for many years but since they started sealing crank bearings and leaning them back to the razors edge I’ve blown many. Even after fatting up the jets and opening up the fuel screws they are still iffy at best. No more doos for this guy.

Cool story, except it's an 840cc. To circumvent those details..in fact, any usable details, stuff gets peddled like "850 class" and more of that meaningless drivel like "class(?) leading" and such. Note that there's not an actual number to be found anywhere that proves any of the claims made, just slick presentations and pretty pictures. These *trax videos are more infomercials than actual industry journalism, to be honest but hey...gotta keep the lights on, I guess.

@@oldslow3694 the media don't report about it since the manufacturers are there big sponsors. There was one snowmobile magazine in Sweden that decided to be on the consumers side and started to question for example belt life. They lost sponsorship from all manufacturers and almost went in to bankruptcy when new owners stepped in and they don't mentions any problems any more. With that said, according to a message from Polaris to the dealers there are a estimation of up to 5% of the produced engines up to a certain period that fails. It is mainly the inboard crankshaft bearing that fails but also the bearing on the PTO side. They started to glue the bearing on the PTO side in place when they discovered the problems, for 2020 thy have added a retainer for that bearing.
