When I started wish I would of found a channel like this 4 years ago. Sometimes when you are just starting you feel overwhelmed with all the languages and frameworks, but if you know the trifecta Html, css, javascript thats all you really need, and jquery is the icing on the cake.

scrolling through the list of JR Front-end developer i can definitely say it's not enough to learn basics Html, css and JS. Lots of requirements are needed - Git,PHP, tons of different frameworks, Angular/React, Node, etc. Imho this is too much for JR position, the only hope right now we, beginners, have is an employer adequacy who can give you a chance.

Hey I wrote Chris this question...maybe you can provide some clarity also? I know it isnt addressed to you but any help you can provide, I would really appreciate. Thank you in advance for your time :-) Hey Chris, thanks so much for this video. Question for you... I have been learning how to code on FCC and Code Academy, I'm going to check out Treehouse since you mentioned it. Anyways, I have been learning since january of this yr 2017. And when I started building my portfolio I keep coming across tutorials that use tags and other code that I have never heard of at all, and of course I proceed to learn about it. But my point is, ALL of these things I've never heard of keep popping up... So how can one ever be 'ready' for a job??? You said you learned html and css... did you learn ALL of it?? Or just enough to build a basic website?? Please provide some clarity if you can. Because I feel like with so much to learn and new things popping up daily, how can I as an aspiring developer ever be ready for a job...?

This truly made my day and my life. I was kicked out of college for low grades and have been working at jobs I don't enjoy. I keep telling myself and others that I wanna be a web developer I just need to go to school and learn, but 1. I can't go cause it's expensive and 2. I don't know where to start. Now that I see this I wanna do it. I'm so broke sleeping in my car as I'm writing this and I have been wanting to so badly to learn web development. My mom doesn't believe that I can do it, my friends think I can't do it cause they just don't think I can do it but I do believe that I can. So thank you for this video.

Direct to the point. I'm still looking for jobs right now, but this certainly helped me to become inspired to continue applying for jobs. It is very discouraging when you start looking at job descriptions and they have so many requirements that you just become overwhelmed because you only cover atleast 1/8 of the coding language that they require you to have. Certainly, this lifted my spirit to continue applying for a development job especially now that I feel like giving up.

Just subscribed to you! I literally just started learning how to code a couple days ago and I'm taking it very slowly. I was just like you, I barely graduated high school and I could not concentrate at any junior college I attended. I'm stuck at retail job that pays pretty well, the only downside is that I live in the Bay Area and the job I'm at is not enough to live a comfortable life. Your videos really inspired me and I really hope I can learn how to code and change the way I live. Thanks for inspiring me and making me believe that I can do this too!

This was very inspirational for me as I'm now learning how to code so I can switch careers. For me, I've been mainly going with Skillcrush (Front End Developer Blueprint) and supplementing with FreeCodeCamp and other free sources to fill in any knowledge gaps or clear up anything I may be confused about. I really enjoy Skillcrush and like the idea that you can build a site for a non-profit with FreeCodeCamp, so I hope by the time I'm done, I'll at least have HTML, CSS, Responsive Web, Javascript, jQuery, Git/GitHub under my belt before applying for a job. I'd like to also learn WordPress and back end languages at some point in the future, too. There is just so much to learn and since I'm in serious need of a job, I've been trying to learn quickly, but wasn't sure exactly how much would be enough to get my foot in the door. I just subscribed and I look forward to future vids!

I feel more relieved after watching your videos, because I'm currently learning FEWD through thinkful.com and it's way more expensive than treehouse which I wish I would have just gone with that route, but with thinkful I have a personal mentor to help me as well as live Q&A sessions to ask questions when i'm not meeting with my mentor. I learned HTML and CSS for 2 months and felt that I was okay but then moving into JS and jquery, I struggle with it and I still struggle now. Because I took a 2 month break to finish up my Bachelor's degree and hoping back into it after a break, I'm struggling to remember what I've learned and I started feeling like being a web developer isn't for me. But thank you for sharing this with me, it means a lot that I know that someone has also struggled as well and made it so I know I can do it too. I just have to put in the work.

Tried this path in the past. Languages evolve much quickly to weed out people whom are experienced at something older. It's just the nature of the product. Enjoy it while it lasts though and if you can press through it then well you definitely got a team to work with.

Hi Chris! Very good video! I am learning from freeCodeCamp, Lynda, codecademy, is quiet slowly, sometimes I feel down because is not easy. I had only one interview and didn't go too well as I was not confident, maybe next time :)
