Did you continue to learn more than one language or at some point did you stop and just focus on each language one by one?

The developers with no CS degree be the first ones laid off at these companies. Then the last to be hired nowadays and when they are hired, they are not making 6 figures like in the hey day of 2019-2020 😆

Hey Chris. I just bumped on your channel and its crazy how algorithm works. I'm in the point of my career that I want to pursue what I love the most (programming ) 10+ years ago then I happen to saw this 7 year old video. Thank you for reminding me that its never to late to code. I may know less to nothing right now but as I leave this message here I will get back to it a year from now and recount when it all started again. Leap of Faith. Amen.

I like to think of it as a shift in how we code. Instead of being the writer, director, and the producer, I now get to have a writer (AI) doing a lot of the work for me, while I can direct all the big picture moving parts.

You literally said that you dont need to know too much html and css and then you add in the same sentence terms like UI and Photoshop well i guess someone needs to make that, with basic html and css you won't be able to achieve its obvious that you need great knowledge on those technologies.

My job went away during the pandemic around June 2020 but they said that I could look for another job within the company of which there were many. They offered 1/2 year of severance and I could use my office for three months. I took the money and other benefits as it was too good to pass up. In general, it's best to lose your job in the first round as subsequent rounds aren't as generous. I started Social Security and Medicare this month. Things got a lot more chaotic after I left. I never did apply for unemployment as I considered myself retired when I left. Tech booms and busts are cyclical and I've been through many cycles of them over the past 40 years. So yes, sock it away in the good times to carry you through the bad times. If the bad times never come, then you are set for retirement. It sounds like you're doing quite well with the side-gig. Working one job somewhat comes from the concept of "The Company Man" from the 1950s..

Getting a degree, building side projects, being active on LinkedIn are all valid tactics. But I can tell you from experience that if you're trying to land a full time job in tech, EXPERIENCE IS KING. Unfortunately the industry hasn't had a strong desire for junior devs since Covid (probably before that). Right now is a HORRIBLE time to try to get a full time job in tech. I would encourage folks to go down the freelance/contract route. Go to meetups. Go to networking events were you can speak directly to the business owners who need/want your tech skills. Create content to draw inbound sales. This advice isn't for those who just want to put their head down in code, fill out a thousand applications and hope they get lucky (nothing wrong with this approach per say btw...just not for me). This advice is for those who have an entrepreneurial spirit and want to seek silver while everyone else is chasing gold.
