Love from Austrria 🇦🇹 I like the Japanese train melodies, nice gentle jingles. When the doors shut in Vienna's subway, (U4 for example) they just make a loud "angry" beeping signal. @곽노민 Singapore MRT all underground stations since 1989, and all stations since 2012. Hong Kong all underground stations since 2005, and all stations since 2018, except the original KCR line which opened in 1910 and is incompatible with PSDs.

I think they are not automatic so conductor needs to check that no one is on the way and then close them.

It’s because at the time the footage was recorded, only two stations had platform gates. Now that platform gates have been installed at every station, the conductor no longer needs to stick his hand out the window for the manual operation of the platform gates, but just stick his head out before closing the train doors to cue the gates to open/close with the sound coming from the door chimes (I bet those gates have some kind of audio sensor like the ones in Tokyo).

This was done in order to reduce delays (with 2 stations that have gates, there is no need to automate them as they are busy stations but now that the gates are in all stations, they decided to fully automate them because the train has to depart the station on time (The Midosuji line arrives/departs every 3 minutes).
