Great video, and a good variety of species, but this is nowhere near ALL duck species. A few more just off the top of my head include the Campbell Island Teal, Falcated Duck, Chiloe Wigeon, and the South American Crested Duck. Also, technically the birds in the video aren't even all "true" ducks since the many species that are commonly called ducks do not form a monophyletic clade. It's hard to even say what a "true" duck even is since just about any smallish member of the family Anatidae is commonly referred to as a duck (Should we only consider the dabbling ducks (subfamily Anatinae) to be true ducks, since that's the group that Mallards (the classic duck) belong to? That would mean that the diving ducks, shelducks, sea ducks, mergansers, whistling ducks, etc. are all not technically true ducks).

@@TheSynecdoche I'm not trying to be overly critical or condescending and I'm really sorry if I came off that way. I just have always had a passion for animals and biology, and I'm always trying to research and learn as much as I can. As a result, when I get talking (or writing) about animals I naturally tend to think about things in scientific terminology. I don't think there's anything necessarily wrong with referring to any "duck-like" member of Anatidae as a "duck," but I also think it's important to understand taxonomy and how different species are actually related to each other. For example, you say "a goose is a goose and a swan is a swan," but the Egyptian Goose is actually a shelduck (Tadorninae), and there are a few other "geese" that are also shelducks or belong to other clades. Swans (Cygnus) on the other hand are usually placed in the same subfamily as the "true" geese (Anserinae) and so could also be considered geese. Of course, taxonomy often changes as we continue to learn more about genetics and how different organisms are related, and there are many members of Anatidae whose placement is currently uncertain. Anyway, I've gone on just about long enough, so make of this what you will. (one more thing, please don't take this the wrong way, the smew is now usually placed in its own genus (Mergellus) rather than in Mergus, in fact it might even be closer to the Goldeneyes than the mergansers, though this placement is still debated. Regardless, I agree that it is adorable, strikingly beautiful, and should have been included). Have a great day, and God Bless You! :)
