I love the pic of the mallard. He looks so much like one who was my main squeeze for 2 1/2 years, Robert F. Duckington (aka Bob the Duck). Spring before last Bob flew away and I haven't seen him since.

Don't the abacots in the pictures above look very much like welsh harlys? I love the coloring on welsh harlequinns also. I was looking for them in the list but they aren't there.

Same here, I have five girls. Should have been on the list. The Elizabeths do look like them, but never heard them called that name before.

You're mixing up breeds with species. Most domesticated ducks are from the Asian Mallard; within exception to the Muscovy, which was domesticated from a non-Mallard species.

I’m pretty sure I have 1 Pekín, 3 Rouen, and 2 Aylesbury. (Pekins are highly scared of any laser, Rouens don’t mind lasers, neither do the Aylesbury) How to tell duck genders though.

That is a rouen duck they were bred in the Normandy region of france. The duck you are refering too may be localized to your area or just is what you guys call a rouen.

There are lots of ducks that look like that. Most where bred from the mallard wich is why they look like that.

@mark gilderdale all *domestic duck breeds* except the muscovy were *bred* (by humans, not evolved naturally) from mallards. there are lots of wild duck species - pintails, mandarins, wood ducks, teals, spot-bills, whistlers and ruddy shelducks just to name a few - that aren't mallards and the semantic distinction is important

They've never seen a wood duck in hand. Never saw a pintail in flight. (Sky ballerinas) Never seen waterfowl flip-flopping because they came in to too hot to your calling. Sorry buddy your comments are lost on these people. I get it though.
