I always thought "American Kirby is Hardcore" was a phenomenon exclusive to the '00s, from _Nightmare in Dream Land_ onwards. Surprised to see it went back all the way to how the first game was advertised.

Because when the game was released in English he we was white on the boxart. Apparently it’s because they were unsure if he was supposed to be pink or yellow so they decided to go with white since the original game had no color
