Sheesh, the earlier American adverts are hardcore. I’m pretty sure they were trying to portray kirby as an absolute manbro badass that just happened to be small and cute. Maybe even twisting the adverts to focus more on the action-movie tropes than Kirby himself to make him seem more cool. Since America tended to write off anything cute as childish and/or girly, thus hurting sales from the “majority” demographic (which isn’t true, at least nowadays). So they were trying their darnest to make Kirby appeal to that overly aggressive and/or masculine demographic, which would’ve probably gotten harder as the series went on, since fans of the series would already know its more cutesy tone, and/or people would realise they were being deceived that it wasn’t as hardcore as advertised. So by around canvas curse, they resorted to just making it as wacky as humanly possible to at least grab attention. And then finally, by the modern era, they would’ve pretty much gotten the hint to just show what the game is like. Or maybe I just get that impression because the modern adverts are cleaner. Disclaimer: this is my *heavily exaggerated* opinion, not a genuine theory or belief.
