Ian rush never missed, he was a machine. Him and Dalglish were the best front partnership of all time IMO.

I remember one game in 89/90 he had a shocker but still scored

Roger Hunt, Keegan, Barnes were absolutely amazing players. Each remembered for their own great qualities and contributions to LFC's success. Rush and Dalglish will always be the first names to make a Liverpool all time best XI's attack. If I am to pick a third player though I am picking Luis Suarez all day long. Suarez was a gift for us Liverpool fans and I wish he played in a better Liverpool side. Regardless Suarez as a Liverpool player may not be a bigger legend than Barnes, Keegan and Hunt because of longevity at the club, but Suarez as a player in general is 100% better than all those guys ever were. I'm talking 500+ career goals. Best ST of an entire generation. Two European Golden Shoes during the Messi Ronaldo era, and the second most assists in football history. What can this guy not do? He was a prolific goal scorer and a highly creative forward both at the same time. Definitely top 10 ST of all time. van Dijk was a defensive genius that I think even the Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley era never had. Xabi Alonso as well, an absolute genius in midfield. My point is this, if we want to make an all time Liverpool XI with simply the best footballers in a general sense we must have the likes of Suarez in attack, Xabi Alonso in midfield, and van Dijk at center back next to Alan Hansen regardless of the LFC legendary status of Jamie Carragher. So this is my all time LFC XI GK: Ray Clemence RB: Phil Neal CB: Alan Hansen CB: Virgil van Dijk LB: Andy Robertson CM: Graeme Souness CM: Xabi Alonso CM: Steven Gerrard RF: Kenny Dalglish ST: Ian Rush LF: Luis Suarez Andy Robertson might be surprising but he has been the best LB in the world for 3 consecutive seasons now and at this rate he will be an all time PL great at the LB position. I mean in the same conversation as the likes of Patrice Evra, Irwin, and Ashley Cole. Not Riise not Alan Kennedy and not any other former Liverpool left back has been as flawless as him. He is already a legend at the club. He can push forward and create and he can defend. As a matter of fact our left side is absolutely flawless right now with him and VVD. This is my Liverpool all time XI based on the best players that have played at the club not just the ones with lots of appearances and titles. And it is the most valid one you'll ever see people. There is no reason to make a 4-4-2 and include Barnes on the LM because Suarez is absolutely clear and he would make the team better than John Barnes would. Ian Callaghan was amazing but Souness, Gerrard, Alonso would make the structure of the team better. The possession and progression of the ball, the pivot, the defense, and control of the game would become better with them.

respectable but no salah/trent? i know it's very early on but i really do believe later in his career we will be able to say trent is the best right back of all time.

@@slicedupshawty let’s keep it down to the best English and premier league RB of all time for now. Hopefully he makes that. Only then he can be put ahead of Phil Neal. For now Phil Neal is Liverpool’s most decorated player of all time. 4 European cups. 8 league titles.. etc. As for Salah he has been my favorite Liverpool player under Klopp but even I think he hasn’t surpassed the likes of Dalglish Rush Keegan etc.

As you mention, a separation has to be made between what is a legend and best players. If you are to select a team of the "best" players, Suarez must be on it. At their prime, I don't think any could match Suarez. He had a football skillset that would be very difficult to equal. I ask this. Of all these players, which one would have the capability of winning a match on their own?

@@richardthompson3346 Suarez more than anyone. For real. Dalglish in the 80s from what I hear. But yeah that’s the main reason I mentioned Suarez even though he was with us for just 3 years. Shame that he wasn’t part of a better Liverpool side.

You should put Keegan on the list!!! Liverpool and Keegan go only together! An amazing striker. He made me love this club! I used to watch every Liverpool and every England game because of him! I can not imagine Liverpool without him!

I understand why Dalglish is always picked over Keegan, and it is difficult to argue against Dalglish, however, Liverpool don't ever become the club they did become without the signing of Keegan and the place he took that club too. For me Keegan is Liverpool's most important signing ever. He was the guy that laid the foundations for that club to have the success it did. He to Liverpool is what Cantona was to Manchester United.

Best your CB with Hansen

I prefer to put Allan Kennedy as Left Back and switch Emlyn Huges as Center Back to replace Carragher. I also prefer to change Ian Callaghan with Billy Liddell as right winger

3 different to mine.. I use a must win euro Cup rule which sadly rules out Barnes. I have a back two of Smith and recent addition Van Dijk. Alan Kennedy moves to left back as Hughes is in my midfield

Carragher as much as I love him gets nowhere near this team, Lawrenson, Yeats, Hughes, Thompson, all better. Hughes could play anywhere but at left back Kennedy was way better. but there are so many fantastic players, Beardsley, Fowler, Ray Kennedy McDermott, Keegan, Hunt, St John, Smith, Highway, Hyppia Thomson plus all the new boys Arnold, Robertson, Van Djyke Salah, Mane, Torres, Suarez, and so many more.

I agree, Carragher is not in the same class as the players you mention. Glad you mentioned Ray Kennedy, pure class & moved like a Rolls Royce.

Virtually impossible to pick an all time eleven, but there are some players who have to be chosen, based on appearances, best in position and what they won, here goes. Clemence. Neal. Hansen. Lawrenson. Hughes. Souness. Gerrard. Dalglish. Barnes. Rush. Keegan. Amen. 4 4 2. If you had to pick a team that actually played together then 1979 takes some beating.
