Turning your back in a clinch should be illegal. Jacob could've done many work of in-fighting but puric chickened out of the clinch. He even hang on for his dear life on the rope. What a disappointing fight

You can still attack just not to the back of their head. Refs break that up a lot though. Puric should have been given a timidity warning for that and the intentional falls to waste time and prevent counters.

Yeah he should have gotten a warning at least. Especially since Coste made a big mistake calling that fall a knockdown in the 2nd.

He had 2 knockdowns in the 2nd. Granted they were sketchy, but they still count. That's 10-8.

Incredible war. So hard fought from the jump from both sides, violence and drama, both guys gave 100% and skirted the boundaries of the dangerous game hell bent on victory.

Smith's problem is his physical temperament. He needs to go back to the drawing board. Brute force alone can't win fights. At the clinch he is strong, but closing the distance is problematic. He can't fire at the no man's land zone and ate too many punches. He needs to use more jabs and "theeps" to set up the entrance and dominate at close range. Finally, he has to learn to be more patient and control his frustration. There were signs in this fight that he could do it. Once he develops these skills, he will be a scary fighter for any opponent.

Interesting to see some thought SMITH won. I thought Puric did because of the eight counts and punches to head. If SMITH maintains his attack ability, but works on his defence a bit more, I think he would win. He is a strong tough guy but ends up getting hit a little too much and relieving injuries - though he is very tough and able to continue. I wish he would protest a little less. Good luck to him (and Puric).

not his fault the ref called 2 slips knockdowns. The ref got in the way the minute smithy was working in the clinch… and didn’t give a single warning for the dude spinning around

the referee did everything he could to prevent the real outcome from being revealed and apparently succeeded in doing so well. no wonder Smith was frustrated, this bald-headed "judge" has also previously shown that he is unable to do his job without bias.
