Great work! Thanks. It's an excellent display what SHOULD and what SHOULD NOT be done when considering calling a Technical foul for fake/flop. In many cases shown here, referees would stop the play - and obvious legal scores - for punishing fake/flop defensive plays, thus putting at disadvantage offensive teams - instead of waiting the outcome of the action AND THEN calling technical fouls. On many occasions too, illegal defence and normal attacker reaction as a result of that contact, just as well some unwanted/marginal "trippings" were called as flops. This means that: 1. they were emotional calls (more than anything else), or 2. they were instructed to "look for" fakes/flops and to "shoot 'em up". In both cases, they've influenced the overall behaviour (and the game control, as consequence) and/or the final score. Not good!

I love this rule! NBA needs to call flops way more often.

some aren't flops, some are just players protecting themselves

You're right. If the player doesn't go down unnecessarily and try to bait the foul, they shouldn't get a tech.

At least half of them were trip overs, lost balances or actual fouls. Refs need to be held responsible for this.

1st flop call was a bad call. While the defender may have exaggerated the effect of contact, a foul was committed FIRST by the screener who leaned into the defenders path and caused significant shoulder contact. That foul creates a dead ball and the flop must be disregarded. Terrible call - officials should call what happens FIRST. After a team control foul is called, a warning to the defender is appropriate.

Not really after the contact the player intentionally made that foul look much worse

@@Thefinnisher23 He got full side-bumped (fouled) on his last step when he's about to leave his feet and is twisting his body to try to finish the bucket. Afterwards he falls on the floor. That's not a flop. I really hope calls like this aren't brought to the NBA this year. This doesn't improve the game at all.

@@Hy-BridAbroad I watched it again and I have to agree with you. He did get bumped and maybe he exaggerated the contact a little bit, but not enough for a flop technical

he shooted, thats why he got a tech. Its wasnt about exagerating the contact, you can hear it on the first footage. But its definetly on the edge of what has to be called

This kind of gives the regs too much power. How about just not calling them fouls...assessing it after the game and issuing hefty fines?

When players get paid multiple million dollars a year, I don’t think a 10k fine is enough. The fake is a much better solution

I love how these incompetent refs have NEVER (not in one game during the EURO) punished any offensive player for setting the obvious moving screens ever.... There hasnt been one clean screen in any game of the Euro but they dont even look at that.... What else is the defender supposed to do?

Honestly, flopping can change the outcome of the game completely, if you flop, and the refs don't catch it, you are basically cheating your way to winning the game.

If you use this rule and the refs do theyre job, for example when jokic bumped that italian, he just moved in ordet to not fall, how can you call a tech on somebody doing a necessary movement to keep playing?

Or if nurkic had more body balancing skills he wouldnt have fell, but he is 2,10 meter tall, its not easy to keep coordination.
