I actually had the idea of a stop motion film based on Spooky's. And, instead of having the specimens attack the protagonist multiple times throughout, I would make new specimens, one being inspired by Horrorland and Slappy from the Goosebumps series

Specimen 9's first form actually appears when you stay in a room for too long. Even safe rooms.

9:00 the fact that it deals damage to the player implies that the player's character has suffered some trauma (or has a mental illness), which is a neat little tidbit of information for the player to learn about without it being too in your face This is the part where it turns out you get a lore dump about the character at the start of the game

I mean, the most information we have on the origins of Giygas (specifically in EarthBound) is that he is based on traumatic experiences.

After watching wambu's video on spooky's I just see specimen 3 and think "o hello friend" And I have arachnophobia God intended me to be afraid of this But I'm just "O hallo dere little frend how are you?"

10:28: the “take the dead” text is a reference to a radio you can listen to in the game before entering the boss room. The radio told that they will nail the “logs” (corpses) together. With this info, we can tell that spec. 9 came from Unit 731. So the “take the dead” thing makes sence

Specimen 9 has a connection with the Japanese experiment unit 731, because the room were you encounter him before the boss fight have the number 731

The cat is so cute. Not gonna lie.

Specimen 2 is also a reference to SCP-106 in how it does its stuff. It’s black, it comes from a black puddle, and it can go through walls. Edit: Also, Specimen 7 is also a reference to Gigyas with its hellish looks, and possibly the old Soul Sand from Minecraft. Second Edit: Specimen 13 could also be a reference to Little Nightmares’ DLC’s Part Two’s Grandma Battle (or the Shoepile Monster). Also, personally, it looks like a Terrarian Nymph.

Specimen 7 reminds me of the SCP-001 story about the shattered sun where everyone in sunlight turned into a fleshy mash. (Did that come out before or after this game?) Also 9 seems to have a Shining thing going on with the text repeating top to bottom The worm thing that pops out of the player reminds me of 2 things. A chest burster, and the Tingler (Google it)

i love this, ive been binging John Wolfes playthrough of spookys actually lol, i dont know what i expect to find or see differently but, it does remind me how much i love this game and its references. this video is like a indepth CAT-DOS, very well done like usual and i like that all the info is included. its hard to get all parts of a game when you watch others play it as they may skip things or not fully look into something due to trying to finish the game. anyways thanks so much, i love all these spooky videos, your last one was excellent. i really hope build your own mansion and all that other stuff comes to the game still. i know its hard to implement but its so coool.

You can find the skeleton of that first note writing guy near the end of the game. After he died, he became a ghost and left more notes which you can find in endless mode.

I really love coming back to these spooky’s house of jumpscares/spooky’s jumpscare mansion videos!

As someone who mainly played the older version of this game, when the enemies were mainly 2D... The full 3D models for all the monsters nowadays still freak me out

What I think some may be inspired by that HorrorBro doesn't mention. Specimen 2: 1:52 Obvious reference to SCP-106, as they emerge from puddles in the ground. Specimen 5: 4:57 I at first thought this could be a reference to SCP-096, The Shy Guy, but this is a loose assumption. Specimen 7: 8:26 Perhaps a reference to a boss from the game Terraria, the Wall Of Flesh. Specimen 11: Another SCP reference, and it's once again SCP-106! Transporting you to an alternate dimension is something SCP-106 can do in multiple SCP games, similar to this: 13:26 Specimen 13: The gameplay mechanics may be a reference to a DLC in the horror puzzle game Little Nightmares, the DLC level is called "the Depths" and you must swim to debris before being pulled under and drowned by a creature named "the Granny" 15:32

I know this guy basically just covers kids horror games as generally as possible, but I still appreciate that there’s a guy doing that consistently. Especially when an actually good mascot horror like spooky’s comes around.
